Judge Charles, not Justice Charles. The Justice appellation is typically reserved for those sitting on the highest courts in the system, i.e. WA Supreme Court and USSC.

Fixed it for you, Felix. Now back to Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, Mass. you go!

I for one am not surprised at the lack of endorsements for Edsonya, nor are many people who have been following this judicial race.

And it has nothing to do with the stated objections.

This kerfuffle over donations is really a shame ad I hope it doesn't cost McKenna the race, because Charles is without much debate one of the least competent people to ever don a robe. And that's saying something. She's just flat out dumb.

Perhaps if Judge Charles showed a bit more judicial competence, or any sort of leadership skills as presiding judge over Seattle Municipal Court (which, as you may recall, had its ass handed to it by an audit, and a position stripped by the council, due to the poor performance of the Court overall), she wouldn't be in so much trouble.

I really wish this were the James Tupper involved in this case:

To # 3 - What Lack of endorsements? There isn't a single judge on the bench willing to support Ed McKenna except someone he lists as retired and that no one has heard of. Definitely wasn't a judge from Seattle. On the other hand, several elected officials (past and current), attys, judges (from WA State Supreme Court, WA Court of Appeals, King County Superior Court and more importantly, Seattle Municipal Court) are supporting Judge Edsonya Charles.

Katrina Pflaumer, fmr US Attorney, WA State Supreme Court Justice Barbara Madsen, WA State Supreme Court Justice Susan Owens, WA Court of Appeals Judge Susan Agid (ret.), WA Court of Appeals Judge Kenneth Grosse, KC Superior Ct Judge Donald Haley (ret.), KC Superior Ct Judge Mary Yu, Seattle Municipal Ct: Judge Fred Bonner, Judge Judith Hightower, Judge George Holifield, Judge Kimi Kondo; Sen Adam Kline, Sen Joe McDermott, Sen Ed Murray, Rep Eric Pettigrew, Rep Sharon Tomiko Santos, KC Councilmember Larry Gossett, Hon Martha Choe, Hon Greg Nickels, Hon Charles Royer, Hon Laura Ruderman, Hon Deborah Senn, Hon Pat Thibaudeau, Hon Wes Uhlman, SPD Asst. I encourage people to hear Ed McKenna on the stump especially in live debates against Judge Edsonya Charles. The choice is clear on who needs to stay on the bench. What is most disturbing is the negative tone and antics of McKenna from his political stunt with the Voters Guide and SEEC appeal and whose inappropriate and unethical behavior may be tolerable as an asst city attorney but definitely crosses the line for a judicial wannabe.
10
Anyone who thinks Ed McKenna instead of Judge Edsonya Charles is a better choice on the bench needs to get their facts straight, look much closer at who actually supports him and drone out the political bees nest he's tried to stir up.

Ed McKenna is supported by the city attorney/prosecutors office and a group of defense attorneys that battle against that office on a regular basis. That speaks volumes to me. He must be an ethical and reasonable man. It seems funny that Mr. Tupper is decrying the politicalization of judicial races when all of Ms. Charles' support comes from her political allies. Other judges aren't necessarily the best barometer of a judges skills as they tend to spend more time working on their own cases. I know that I know more about my co-workers than people who hold there same position in other offices do. It makes sense that the lawyers in the court room know what's up. Has anyone talked with the court clerks about these candidates?

Please wait...
