What a great clip! Pretty good when you've got all the cameramen laughing behind the monitors...and thank the little baby Jesus you ditched the Skype...
2
Nice fake book backdrop there.
3
You looked good and sounded great! At least you didn't have to use Skype this time. Joy is a dear heart and a good person.

For BEG:

Don't have time to write it all down, sorry, but the funny part:

Behar: "Are you kidding? You should have come out to the priesthood, it would have been perfect for you!"
Dan: "Yeah, well, I wanted to live in a big house, wear dresses, and have sex with men, so I suppose I could have been a priest when I grew up..."
(and then you hear all these people laughing in the background...)

Your rhetoric is wrong. Find allies, and support them, and accept their support in turn. Being impatient and trying to force the president to abuse his powers, is a HUGE mistake that drives a wedge between YOU (annoying gays) and ME (straight people who view ourselves as the center of the universe).

You can't win this by making your friends into your enemies. Obama is giving you a HUGE FUCKING TARGET and, instead of fighting to change the laws, you're aiming at HIM, and undermining his ability to exert his political pressure, by complaining that HE WON'T ABUSE HIS POWER.

Look Dan, it's hard to admit your wrong, so don't do it. Just shut up about the President for a minute, and start organizing. You won't get another opportunity like this. If you can't form a movement that is readily willing and active to make a change, you will fail.

Attacking the President will not get you what you want. Building support from the ground up is harder, but I think you're up for it. Stop wasting time.

I was surprised at how much I liked what Jim McGreevy had to say.
7
Think of the children!
8
Please don't ever be shy and not post these appearances of yours! Lots of us choose not to have cable so we miss great clips like this.
9
Just noticed David posted this, not Dan. That makes sense, cause he doesn't post these!

Bring them on David and others!

@5

um...I don't recall a single word about Obama in this video clip.
11
@5 - are you living in a Taliban cave? You don't think the Gay Rights movement has gotten where it is in the past few years because all of us (figuratively) sat on our hands? Pressuring this president - or any president - on these issues is a duty not to be shirked. Truman didn't assemble a focus group before he integrated the military. And yes I know DADT and DOMA are codified law, but that doesn't mean you just throw up your hands and say (literally) my hands are tied - can't help you. Get thee to your nearest clue shoppe.

I haven't had much to say about this whole "It Gets Better" campaign, and the kinds of discussions it's opening up, like this one, but damn, Dan: this is the best thing you've ever done. This thing is setting off waves that are rippling into every corner of the country. I'm very proud just to be vaguely affiliated with the blog where you're working, even if it's just a smug "yup, I comment on his blog". You're really making a difference. Good on ya, mate.
13
I'm only disappointed that McGreevey was allowed to keep steering the conversation back to blaming extremists like evangelical Christians and orthodox Jews, so that the point didn't really get made that moderate/liberal religionists need to be speaking out.

Still, nice piece.
14
McGreevey is totally undressing you mentally in this clip, Dan.
15
Wearing a hoodie for a national TV appearance...? Particularly when you're in your 40s...? Yikes. Looks kinda sad, sorry to say.
16
@8 Agreed! Just the CNN on in the breakroom is enough to make my skin crawl a good deal of the time. Cable TV is a societal evil and people's consumption of it should be taxed like cigarettes. Thanks for posting these, Mr. Schamder, else I'd never see 'em.
17
@15 - What are you, 90 years old? It looked fine.
18
as a jerseyian, I gotta say the idea that McGreevey was ever in the closet is pretty laughable. unless of course it was a glass closet so that way everyone could see him making out with all his aides in his office.

Please wait...
