I bet that roof is a favorite because it has no insulation and heat is flowing out. And I know there are people who hate them, but to me they are beautiful creatures. If you look at them in sunlight they have incredible colors for display.
i live up the street from this house. there is always only one lighted room ( at least as seen from the outside) and it is the kitchen..cold flourescent light.. sometimes there is fresh laundry hanging outside in the back yard .always pj's mostly just bottoms.
it has intrigued and creeped me the fck out for years.
.. oh.. and the pigeons ? a block north they congragate all of the telephone wires for two whole blocks every morning ..hundreds of them.
...hundreds..on the wires above a bus stop, a corner market, a very busy intersection and up the street.
cold hungry pigeons.
I dig that house too. I think it's bizarre and intriguing. I live nowhere near it but it draws my attention when I am passing. Its colors are so rich yet so dreary. Nowhere else in this town have a seen such an ediface. It reminds me of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" ride at Disneyland - it's almost a caricature of an old building, and it stands out starkly from its surroundings.
Well, unless you have a suppressor on your .22. Which I do.
pigeons are fine, just not so many of them. if only we could get the crows and pigeons to have a war.

Speaking of urban ecology, did you see the mountain goats climbing up the face of the concrete dam?
