The more that Dino Rossi goes on about earmarks, the more obvious it is that he believes the voters are a bunch of utterly uninformed, delusional fools who don't understand the first thing about the federal government and how we've come to have such huge deficits. There is a cynicism and dishonesty there which the press has tolerated if only for their own shallowness, laziness, and cravenness.
