Love this. Thank you again Dan for the IGBP!
2
Lovely. Loved the line about 5 years out, so true. Keep up the good work.

Oh, Cherry Jones, you send me!
4
Beautiful.

When I saw Nathan Lane, I left a face-print on my screen. Love how justifiably smug he is about his high school reunion. You're pretty fabulous yourself, Nathan!

Which Tony award for Hairspray was the kiss for? They won like a frakload.
6
blah, that was when they won for Original Score in '03. I can't believe it was so long ago.

Oh, that's a wonderful one, captioned (and two signers!) and such a range of people on it. Awesome.

Here's another story, shows how *early* this crap starts: My son is gay. Or he’s not. I don’t car…

@6

Thanks. I looked up the video. They are SOO funny! And totally adorable.

So beautiful! Honestly, these IGBP videos kinda make me wish I were gay. The amount of love and kindness and support that is being demonstrated in these videos is overwhelming and it make me wish i could be a bigger part of it. I donated to the Trevor Project but I wish there was more I could do. I was bullied in elementary and middle school - not for being gay, but for having a stutter and big front teeth, for being chubby, and for being kinda weird and awkward. I thought about suicide on many occasions. Maybe I'll start an IGBP for geeks.

@9 Some of the videos I've watched (even this one on this thread) have people in them who were bullied for reasons other than their orientation, I think it probably resonates with anyone who's gone through bullying. It's kind of amazing/sad how different life becomes for a lot of kids after high school--sad that hate is allowed to flourish there, in some cases, and then it's like everyone leaves and...just walks their own walk.
...and I know what you mean, maybe things are different in middle America, but here on Slog, the straight people aren't the cool kids...sigh.
11
this would have been a good video even if it didn't have the dreamy Zoe Kazan in it.
12
I love the "befriend the cheerleading squad" solution to the problem of getting bullied by the football players.
13
Sal!!!!! So that's what he's up to these days.

I cried, too, Dan, for lots of reasons, but mainly because I always imagine a lonely, bullied gay kid in the middle of nowhere having to go to a hateful prison of a school and the only thing, the absolute only thing that gets him or her through the day is having witnessed the love and compassion and hope from these IGBP messages. Maybe the only thing that got them through before was planning suicide. Now, they can go home and watch more IGBP and they get better. And they live.

@15 Love this Canuck, thank you for posting.

@16 They just released it, in honour of an LGBT fundraiser. If you liked it, you should go to the original IGBP youtube page, and search for Rick Mercer, he does one of his patented "rants" that is hilarious (I think it was originally aired on his show for anti-bullying week).

The best thing about all these videos and the thing that makes me cry is that all of these people were where I was and they all refused to be victims. Too often in an effort to help victims we support their victimhood without empowering them. When I was in school the main thing I wanted was to know I had some power over the situation. Even if it didn't stop I needed more than a 'there, there poor you' from other people. I needed someone to support me when I stood up for myself. The guy who said he learned where to hide in school is the one who made me cry this time. It brought back memories of 'working' in the school library when school let out in middle school. It gave me 45 minutes for the school grounds to clear out so I could walk home in peace. The bullies hated me & would throw things at me as I walked home. But they didn't hate me enough to wait for me. :)

Such a wonderful video full of people who have made the world a better place through their talents, skills, art, and contributions. Even if every face wasn't immediatly identifible (though most were) , every one of the participants has touched the lives of other through their craft - and now touched even more with this beautiful video.

@17: Thanks for the heads up - just when I thought that my love for Rick Mercer couldn't be any greater, he goes and makes me love him all the more.
21
@17 Spot on! Three years old, and this video would be PERFECT for the IGBP! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1Y7qpiu2…

Dan, can you have your at-risk youth add it to the IGBP? It SOOOOO deserves to be there, and I can't imagine that Mercer wouldn't want it there.

Yeah, Nathan...Everyone else in that video is honest, caring and open. And instead you tell a smug, shticky story that is gonna make every little fat gay kid out there feel like he's just been kicked in the gut.

And you too, Denis?

Thank god for Kevin Chamberlain.
