But really, can anything compare to Jones Soda's "Thanksgiving in Bottles" ? Mashed potato, turkey & gravy, cranberry, fruitcake, and green bean casserole sodas:

OK, peeps, bacon was 2009. Not anymore. Make a note of it.
3
Yay for things
4
Hipster shit. Lame.
5
How long until Jones goes out of business?
6
It's time for us to start enjoying bacon like we used to, with quiet satisfaction. I wouldn't say stuff like this goes too far, but it is thoroughly played out.
7
No BaconLube?

@7 I thought I read somewhere that even though it was a prank, the response was so good that they were going to make it. I'd buy at least two bottles (one to use and one as a gift).
9
Mmmmmmm, bacon soda.

In case you need one to post by the stove:

Never tried bacon soda, but I tried the smoked bacon bourbon at The Blacksmith's while living in Bend this summer. It starts like smoked bacon and finished like a sweet salty bourbon. So, I can only imagine the taste of carbonated bacon in a bottle. And, it isn't a delicious thought. I think the bacon craze is lost on me. I'll keep my bourbon and my soda free of bacon.
12
Gross.
13
I'd rather just sip some Laphroaig.
14
and I always wondered what I should drink when eating bacon...
15
Mmmmmm, Laphroaig. And to that list we can add Lagavulin and Bowmore, in my opinion. Now, that is balancing sweet/savory tastes. I agree with Actionsquid @ 13, forget the soda and pick up a bottle from Islay.
16
@Kim- Yes, Lagavulin and Bowmore are nice too.

By the way, your very own state has a McCarthys distillery, which makes an Islay-inspired whiskey I really like. When I had it it was like 3 years old, so it was a little green... but still it was tasty, peatey/smokey in that Islay way. Worth checking out, especially for the novelty of a smoky OR-made whiskey.
17
@13, @15, @16, if you're after that Islay peat-fire smokey flavor, you need to try some Ardbeg. It's even smokier than Laphroaig. The highest ppm of smoke compounds of any commercially-available Scotch (some private bottlings are higher).
18
I've had and enjoyed Ardbeg, but to me Laphroaig tastes more intensely smoky, which is why it's my favorite. Dunno.

I do know, however, I would prefer any of the Scotches mentioned to bacon-flavored soda.
19
Actionsquid, I've yet to try McCarthy's, but have heard good things about it. It seems it is always sold out.

Fnarf, thank you for the tip on Ardbeg. I do not have that one in my collection. And, "Mr. Chelsea Fan" wants me to drink down some of the Solera Reserve that I inherited before I bring in anymore Scotch. He might relent for Talisker, though, because he likes it too. The others I already have in my collection. So I'm not hurting.

Barf.

Peas, Turkey & Gravy, Sweet Potato, Dinner Roll, and Antacid. No, no, no, no, and no. Bacon scares me even more... (Review of the nasty Thanksgiving set here: http://kooztop5.blogspot.com/2011/11/top…)

Please wait...
