I wish that meat cleaver thing was a Gangs of New York reference. If ever there was a teabagger, it was Bill the fuckin' Butcher.

The only compromise is to the right of them.

That way leads to madness.

Just say No.

Fuck am I getting sick of this meme that actual progressives are just like the Tea Partiers. In any debate with fact checkers we CRUSH THEM, but the MSM doesn't want to force fact checkers on any of the people spouting this trope, cuz that might be seen as threatening and they might lose some of their precious access.

Forget debating Tea Partiers -- I'd be more than happy to see an honest, fact-based debate between corporate centrist Democrats and the progressive left on just about any issue you can name. Bring it.
5
...mock-giant-check-waving progressives like me are going to be branded by our own party leaders as just as extreme as the violent, meat-cleaver-wielding whackos on the far right...

Don't forget fact-free.

I'm w/ Proteus@4.

As long as this is a tactic towards gaining 2012 independents and undecideds, I don't think it's much of a problem. The Republican leadership keeps shouting "no quarter", so what harm is there in the Democrats playing reasonable?

That said, Democrats must remember they still have half the government and bargain down no father right than the actual populace (who may identify as center-right, but hold positions on specific policies that are well left of that).

Clearly this election was a repudiation of the Democratic Party's tactic of just governing. The voting public demands they start the 2012 campaign now.

@4 I think both need to happen.

move on isn't even "left". europeans continue to laugh at the limited american political spectrum. geert wilder's party is probably to the left of most elected democrats.

Sadly, Max is correct @8.

I couldn't get past "tourism officials in Staunton, Va."

Man, I'm glad I have a bitter hatred for both political parties and both political philosophies. It makes these kind of articles so much more amusing.

@12 : You're so awesome.
