Yes! Through the wonders of a VPN I watched all 3 episodes on BBC when it premiered there last season. Absolutely brilliant! I too am so looking forward to season 2.
2
actually watching shows online is the future......I believe you're the luddite for sticking with that godawful television set & overpriced broadcast prices

How is this like a Teletubby?

I got a dvd of the three episodes from a friend in the UK last August. I'm crushing out on Sherlock (although Benedict Cumberbatch in person doesn't very much look like the character he plays). Can't wait for the new episodes. Fall 2011 in the UK, I hear. Beginning of 2012 in the US.

This just got Stephen Moffat closer to the do no wrong state with me.

my love for benedict cumberbatch knows no bounds.

I'm a hardcore Sherlockian canonist who hates the Basil Rathbone movies for their perversion of the original text.

I love, love, LOVE this new show. The previous statement was only meant to underscore how persnickety I would be about a sub-par adaptation, and thereby emphasize the weight of my approval. The first episode perfectly upgrades the initial Holmes/Watson meeting in "A Study in Scarlet," while flinging it roughly 130 years into the future. It's just great. There are tons of sly references to the original canon. Thumbs up!

*squee* I'm so glad this is catching on in the US.

Excellent show! This is why I don't need the dreck that's on cable.

I too love this show.

I especially liked the nuanced performances of Benedict Cumberbatch (!) and Martin Freeman (Bilbo!) when they go to dinner, and subtly, respectfully but humorously tease out each other's sexual orientation. Well played, sirs.
12
Have local Cumberbatch fans caught his small role in Chris Morris's "Four Lions" film (currently at the Varsity Theater)?

I went on a Cumberbatch rampage after seeing this. Oh, and people! Watch the unaired pilot (find a torrent or buy it on DVD). It's really interesting to see how much changed and how.

So frustrated that there's only 3 episodes. My Sundays were made with Walking Dead, then Sherlock. But Two and a Half Men, that gets a zillion fucking episodes. More TV for smart people!

We watched this after hearing about it on NPR and the fact that our TiVo was already on the same channel at the time -- it was AWESOME! Eagerly watched the (ONLY!) two subsequent eps. Second ep we saw Moffat's name in the credits and said, "A-ha! That explains it."

WATCH THIS SHOW.

Plus, Benedict Cumberbatch, is like the most British name ever.

Please wait...
