He sure has me convinced. Those Christians never lie. Especially about gay people or Islam.
2
This is like a step removed from Monty Python's Life of Brian with the stoning scene and the arguments of the People's Front of Judea. "Gay Muslim Chicago Alliance For Stoning". That's how absurd this Dean guy sounds.
3
So, you're saying the "shock jock" is full of shit. But wait a minute - I thought that was the whole point.
4
Yes! Yes! Where's my burka! Those things are *hot*!! Sign me up!!1!
5
BEG, since the only ones I've ever seen have always been black, I'll bet they really are hot.
6
Well, that's what happened when Calgary recently elected its first Muslim mayor, but only the first 500 gays got ponies, the rest only got Tim Horton's gift certificates.
7
I want the drugs that guy is taking.
8
Bugfuck! They're entering a deep level of Fear. "They're all in league against us, the gays and the Muslims!"
9
This type of nonsensical bullshit is believed by people...

And, it makes it hard to argue against them. Just this week, a coworker said gays were against Christmas. Not Christians, but the holiday Christmas. How do you argue against that with anything but laughter and "what the fuck?? No."
10
Derrr, huh?

Oh BEG, you don't need Sharia to wear a burka, you can where one any time, anywhere!
11
As far as "conservative" talking points go, it's got only a slightly elevated degree of distance from reality.

reminds me of this gem from seinfeld:

My reaction upon seeing this.
14
I love how you spit your vitriol JUST toward the Christians... when we see here that Islam, the other major world religion, puts gays to DEATH. Funny though, you're pretty silent about Muslims ... gee, I wonder why.

Cookie cutter ideologies are SO tiresome. It's like the left *and* the right both read from a script most of the time & no one is even capable of thinking independently. Pathetic.
15
@14 Whooooosh.

And was it me, or were those statements by Dean lacking any kind of logical coherence whatsoever? That was worse than Bachmann or Bush.
16
@14 It's called ethnocentrism, you nit. Savage did criticize Islamic religion's behavior toward gays indirectly, but directly criticizes Christians because, guess what, CHRISTIANITY IS THE DOMINANT IDEOLOGY IN AMERICA. Christianity's influence is multitudes greater than Islamic influence in the United States. Hell, even Judaism is more influential.

I also like how Islam is "the other major religion." That's classic.
17
There's also a difference between the prejudices of Christians in an industrialized culture where everyone gets educated and the acts among a tribal society where the educated are far fewer. We too often point to the Muslim religion without accounting for the society. During a different time (and culture) in this very country, those of Christianity committed similarly egregious offences against slaves and “witches.” And just because Muslims are known for such offences in a different society doesn’t mean that someone carrying the Muslim tag in the US is going to adhere to those same ideals.

It makes a certain amount of sense for Muslims to reach out to the other hated minority in a struggle to end bigotry.
18
Hypocrisy is his default.
19
This Dean guy is representative of the deliterious decline in education in this country. Simple logic is now HARD for many.

Education and Health Care, the pillars of Democracy. If you don't have those, you have a manipulated population.
20
@17 the enemy of my enemy is my friend?

FOR NOW! *squinty eyes*
21
Sometimes. Although hopfully it yields a better outcome than American-Russian relations after WWII ;) But seriously, sometimes being the outsider is the the glue that bonds.
22
I am so happy that Keith Ellison is my representative. I try to remember it when the representative from the neighboring district, Michelle Bachman of all people, spews her crazy on the face of FOXnation.
23
@5 yep ;) your punmeter is working jus' fine...
24
@13 that's marvelous! is it yours? an image i can borrow?
25
Doesn't sound like my cup of tea, but A FREE PONY ! Where can I sign up?

I am a native Minnesotan - please understand this doesn't represent our state. The people in the Twin Cities are quite sane, and a few right-wing nutjobs like Dean and Bachmann give us all a bad rap. We're sick of 'em too.

I'm from Minnesota, and I'm sick of these bastards (Dean, Bachmann, etc.) becoming the face of our state to the liberal world. Somehow, we can't get rid of the fuckers. But all the liberals moved to Minneapolis (Ellison's district), so Bachmann keeps getting re-elected and the religious right has a hold in other districts.
