1
This east coast freak would call those sprinkles. Jimmies are long and skinny.
2
Dear internet (and Slog), you've been killin' it lately. Thank you, and keep up the great work.
3
"Waiter, my aphids are all big and round and sugary!"
4
Aww, poor lil girl is starving and confused! Those sprinkles look like lady beetle prey but they keep rolling away, and even when she grabs ahold, they aren't full of bug juice as expected. Maybe she's geting some sugar off the outside.
5
I saw that and thought, "trying to eat them." I'm not sure a beetle brain has the ability to play in the sense that mammals do. Maybe this is why my friends have always called me a "downer".
6
I agree with Anthony. Jimmies are the long skinny things. I'm from Pittsburgh, where I was a cake decorator. In the kitchen, the round ones are called nonpareils.
7
Sugar high!
8
Ditto @1 and @6. Same thing in Cleveland.
9
Ditto @ 1 and @ 6. Same thing in Los Angeles, and from Portland (OR) as far as I have seen and heard.
10
Yep, def not jimmies. As a side note, have you ever looked at the calories in jimmies? Yikes!
11
Eeeeeeeee!!! Bethany, thank you. This cheered me up during a very crappy week. Instant favourite!

I will now proceed alternating Metal Parrot with World Cup Superstar Ladybug until the medication kicks in (a dry martini at 5).

Upstate New York: THEY'RE ALL SPRINKLES YOU FOOLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
13
@12: That's what I thought. That's Canada (well, Toronto ... well, downtown Toronto ... who knows what goes on in the Greater Area) though.
14
The correct name for those things is hundreds and thousands.
15
I don't give a damn what the correct name is. They're "ladybug soccer balls" from now till forever as far as I'm concerned.
16
Agree with @1, 6, & 8, sprinkles are round, jimmies are long (and usually brown.) Don't even *think* about ordering the long brown ones at Baskin Robins in Mass. and referring to them as "sprinkles"...

Also agree with those who felt sorry for poor micro-brained ladybug...why does the food always roll awaaaaay???
17
@Dwight Moody another grew up in Upstate, NYer here, um Schenectady and we called all of them sprinkles. Love the ladybugs though. Jimmies seemed like more of a New England term.

Please wait...
