Is that a compu-present, for me? I've never processed so much joy data.

Merry cyberchristmas, Master control program.

I'm crying I'm laughing so hard.

The early 80s references were priceless: Mama, Fraggle Rock, and "star running back, O.J. Simpson". Would love to see the Avatar Christmas special.

The original 'Tron' wasn't awful. It was made for the audience it was made for, like Beefcake or A Bigger Splash. The TECHNICAL accomplishment was astonishment, and it spoke to a young generation that was living with BBS's, busy creating computers and the internet, and which completely understood not only the technology and jargon involved but the symbolism of the MCP (escaping the power the priesthood of the mainframes) and of the space cruiser moving along light-beams. It envisioned a mythos for the people which made the screen you're reading this on, and this forum, not just conceivable but a tangible reality which is still improving by leaps and bounds daily. Back then people in the newspaper business were completely uninterested in the subject of computers ; too bad because their ignorance cost so many of them their livelihoods.

So back the fuck off. I'm sorry to see that quiet little backwater charmer made into this gargantuan empty-headed action thriller, but I don't have to go see it. I can remember the romance and aspiration of the original.

Please wait...
