Fuck I love Portland. I feel bad for other places in the country that don't have the same access to our area's two large, progressive (and... laid back, unpretentious, um, intentionally unfashionable) cities.
What a great way to put it: 'Portland is where young people go to retire.' it's SO true. Too bad it's mostly because most of these, "young people" lack drive, ambition, assets, and gravitate to the reputation it has earned as, "POTland." don't get me wrong, overall It's a fun progressive little city but If I lived there, I'd get annoyed with paying through the nose for income and real estate tax - so this group of young, "retirees" can mooch from couch to couch -never paying sales tax - sitting back and get baked all day. Seattle is WAY better.
I love Portland, and this song sounds like a Logan Lynn track so bonus.
In my calendar, I have a list of people in other cities that keep asking me to visit and a tally of how many times they mention it so I know when to apologize or force myself to visit -- Portland has the most tallies by far.
It's kind of ironic because portland actually has a huge problem with homeless kids. I mean, they're not working, but I wouldn't call them retired either...
@16: Portland is just 1960s San Francisco all over again, just as Seattle was for Generation X. A nice way of putting this might be Baby Boom : San Francisco :: Generation X : Seattle :: Millenials : Portland. History is repeating itself once more...
