God, I was in tears watching this movie I was laughing so hard. I dunno how so many camp connoisseurs that I know didn't find it ridiculous. I know it's Sirkian in the sense of having it's soap and eating it too, but most who find the silly in the over-the-topness of it seemed to have submitted to it's horror.
So weird. I imagine this is what it would have been like watching Imitation of Lufe when it first came out.
10: I hope this news doesn't make you want to kill yourself, but Sylvia O'Stayformore threw a Showgirls-themed Bacon Strip a couple years ago. (I had to miss it, unfortunately, and don't know how it went, but I know it happened.)
I really wanted to like Black Swan (and I DID like the gratuitous scene with Kunis and Portman) but was it aiming for nuance, subtlety or high art? It failed then. If it was a Showgirls tribute, that makes much more sense.
It's not like Black Swan is leading in Oscar and other noms or anything.
