Good to hear that Safeway reopened in Tuscon. Now Arizonans in the area can get their super cheap super processed "food product" once again!!

Has Slog or the Stranger taken notice that Luke Burbank and Vanessa Romo of TBTL are now involved with a police brutality case?

Apparently a couple of cops tackled and beat the crap out of a homeless guy for jaywalking, Burbank then played Vanessa's recollection of the incident on his radio show.

Four dollar parking rates are not that bad. If it is, find a lot. But for folks who need to quickly park and go into Starbucks for a $4 non-fat, four shot, grande white mocha, extra hot with no whip - it's really no big deal. It won't take the full hour anyway.

At least they didn't extend parking hours to midnight. That sends people to lots, who would have to have extended house, and doesn't help anybody except parking garage companies.

...

Solomon Thompson got off light. Attacking an elderly woman 4 days after getting out of jail for violating his probation which means he also did something before that. Dude should be considered a violent trainwreck and kept away for longer. Also, hopefully there's a psychiatrist in prison to help him, but I doubt it.

Would that law protecting the homeless also apply to when police officers attack them?

Oh, sniz-zap!

@2, hey, Safeway does has some good organics.

I try to start my day with Harvey Sid Fisher whenever I can. Thanks.

LOL, I was ready to ram something in that guys trap if he kept that up much longer.

Megan Burbank, well done with that clip today. Thank you.

You fucking teabagging libertarian moron, you're too stupid to... oh wait. Wait what? What's going on here...? I'm confused.

a 20 year sentence for thomas is NOT a steep sentence. it's an appropriate one. our sentencing laws are far too lenient when the perpetrator is a man and the victim is a woman.

The government is keeping a tab on you: The federal government is billing the states for $1.3 billion in interest...

Washington has the healthiest unemployment insurance trust fund of any state. I think we've got something like 12-14 months worth of benefits in the fund right now. Most states didn't have substantial trust funds so they had to borrow from the Feds to pay benefits...and now they've got to pay interest on that.

Businesses in Washington, naturally, don't like the relatively high unemployment insurance taxes we have here, and the relatively high wage base, but those things have kept our trust fund very healthy.

In other news, The Seattle Times' Ryan Blethan has taken the tragedy of the shooting in Arizona and the resulting public discussion on the nature of public discourse to publish a self-serving opinion piece on how people say mean things on Seattle Times' comment boards.

I expect no less from him, and no more.

Apologies for adding unbidden to the morning news, but...:

Thought some might like to read this article by Larry Kramer (apologies also for not knowing enough about Larry Kramer to know if he is someone you guys like on slog...)
