And SPD does what it does best

I've seriously lived in 7 different states and SPD is by far the worst. Seriously. They make NYPD and Chicago police look amazing.

Well, that's it. It's time to go vigilante on the punks who killed tuba man.

Everyone I know in Seattle now looks at the police here as a bunch of thugs. We all hate to see them. There's no telling what they'll say or do in any given moment. A friend of mine asked a young "frat boy cop" why the street she lived on was blocked off by a pair of police cars (it turns out they were in their usual practice of overreacting to a domestic disturbance call) and she was met with a stern, fat faced "Just keep moving." His snotty, frosty demeanor was like that of a soldier enforcing a military occupation.

My own experience with these surly, arrogant and invasive types of police makes me wonder where the helpful, decent cops are these days. Why don't they speak up when they see one of their ranks pulling some of this awful shit? Do they not care at all about the public's lack of trust and respect?

What in the hell is Cheezburger going to do with $30 mil that they aren't already doing now? If I was that guy, I'd take the money and run. His "empire" is falling apart already, because there just isn't enough funny stuff out there to find every day. Failblog is mostly recycled stuff now, and that's their flagship. Not even 11-year-olds want to see more "I Can Haz Cheezburger" cats. The quality keeps going down and down. And the business model -- depend on your contract bloggers to post a million new things a day for pennies until they die of boredom -- isn't sustainable, because there are now a million other bloggers on other sites who will do it for free. He says he's going to hire, but they don't have enough revenue to support that.

Billy Chambers is the name of that piece of shit who killed tuba man. Can we get picture so when we see him on the buss next we can seek citizen justice? Doesn't seem like the other way is working to well.

@6, @4: do you think there's a connection between the fact that a piece of street trash like Billy Chambers can stomp a man to death -- a local icon to boot -- and get away with it, serving only a month in juvie, despite a record a mile long, and continue to escape any kind of meaningful punishment for further offenses, and the seeming eagerness by cops to deliver rough justice themselves?
8
Sadly, @4, a lot of young people agree with you.

Which is a shame, because there are a lot of fine police officers out there, being dragged down by the thugs permitted to call themselves cops.

I think it's time to crucify that kid in Volunteer park so he'll understand what it's like to fear for your life.

The Rifle kid. WOW!! Can we spot the future killer?

@4,

How exactly are the police supposed to react to a domestic disturbance call? Like they did 50 years ago, telling the battered wife to suck it up?

It really is damned if you do, damned if you don't for the cops, isn't it? And it's mostly the fault of irrational assholes like you.

Please wait...
