I'll give her 2 to 3 months. This is almost as serious as approving an abortion in order to save a woman's life.

If she wants job security, she should rape some children instead.

Acronym fail. Tried looking up the "NALTs" in your headline. Couldn't find it in the linked article. Google has a bunch of possibilities, nothing immediately germane near the top of the search results. Can I buy a clue?

What/who is a NALT? Please elucidate us poor ignorant outsiders.

@2 tsk tsk, you must get up on your google skillz ;-)

NALT, Catholics yields NALT = Not All Like That, as in Theists who protest when hearing complaints about intolerance of their co-religionists by saying that not all of them are the same, because they themselves are decent.

@1 It would be nice... highly unlikely, but nice, if stories like the one you linked to (of a nun who was excommunicated for saving a life) would further diminish the public standing of the Catholic Church, and especially its hierarchy.

Freedom of religion is a great idea, but it doesn't guarantee public respect and deference. Freedom of speech and of the press have a stronger place in the public discourse. "Bishop Would Have Preferred Woman Died, Excommunicates Nun For Saving Her," now that would have made a dandy headline.

@4 well said

Sister Jeannine has been in trouble for years. She ran a program for glbt folk in Maryland for a long time, but was "reassigned" a few years ago... Glad to see she's keeping up the fight!

Dan loves his acronyms.

Hooray for my home state! Every time I worry about you guys getting more conservative, you do something like this!
9
I always love seeing cultists ignore their dogma.

Me too. To think is a beautiful liberating thing.

Yay Maryland!

Been there and done that. Rome has ALREADY retaliated against Sr. Grammick in the past for her work with Gays and Lesbians (just google her, you'll find it) . Tried to silence her and limit her work. She changed orders in order to preserve her freedom.

Please wait...
