...i am so out of coffee...

Sperm, spunk. Two related substances, different modes of production. "explosion of sperm" suggests that high sperm count means big loads. It doesn't. Humans do care about sperm count, but I offer that we care about semen (money shots) more.
3
I've run across a number of human males with what I'd call a "winning penis". None yet with a personality to match, but hope springs eternal...
4
Perhaps in the same way that those men who can afford the biggest cars often don't know how to service them, gus? (will keep my fingers crossed for you, though...)

And why is there a "smaller balls" to "flat female bum" ratio?
5
Charles you forgot to analyze the Sex at Dawn cartoon's black dick and white balls! What does it mean???
6
I miss Dan.
7
@6 Do you blame him? Jeez, talk about biting the hand that feeds you...
8
Gorilla's are getting an inferiority complex. They would drive big cars if they could.
9
That's deep, Mudede, that's deep.
10
It's because the bipedal posture of humans gives them such large buttocks compared to other apes.
11
"the human strategy is depth"

did you READ "Sex at Dawn"?

12
"Sex at Dawn"? Sorry. I'm not a morning person.
13
My penis is full of win.
14
@12, i recall the authors thought of it as suction. I'm a poet. i prefer to think of it as depth.
15
apples to apples Charles - really, you need to be comparing the relative size of penis to vagina. While humans are nearly one-to-one, considering gorillas' extreme sexual dimorphism they might still have us beat.
16
I'll just leave this here. I swear it is NOT shooped.
17
That is the very finest chart-graph I have ever, ever seen.

One of the big things to remember is that these male genitalia were not evolved in a vacuum. They evolve in conjunction with the female genitalia of the same species. So while interspecies comparisons are useful and a good starting point, it's more important how the male genitalia evolve in competition with the female. Females want to control fetilization, as do males. The length of the human penis might be a response to a female physiology, and not as a different strategy compared to other apes.

I'm also really surprised they're claiming they finally have proof for this now. This was accepted as fact when I was in grad school in the 90's.

@11 and 14,

Hold the phone. Does Sex at Dawn cite that idiotic "penis suction" experiment? The one that used a latex vagina to "prove" the researchers' conclusions and that has never been supported by any reputable scientist?

As if I needed any more evidence that the Sex at Dawn writers are a couple of hacks.

Please wait...
