Darya's comment makes me think of Hedwig.

Right, all this handwringing over Iranian influence is just an attempt to demonize the protesters. I mean, we're talking about revolution in the middle east, here. What could possibly go wrong?

The article uses & encourages lazy thinking. Foremost, Iran is not part of the "Arab world," as Iranians are Persian, a very distinct culture & lineage from their Arab neighbors. The US is arguably a part of the "Hispanic world," having a large minority of Hispanic people living here, yet no one bothers to use that euphemism. It has a strong influence on the "Arab world" but the author(s) seem not to care about helping people understand the real situation, but as a means to raise fear and anger. I'm always suspect of those who push the 'Arab = Muslim' meme.

Darya is obviously a fan of V for Vendetta.

To be fair, the shift towards Iran began when Perle and Bush gave Iraq to them.

But, what @3 said.

What @3 and @4 said.

What on earth is "push[ing] the 'Arab = Muslim' meme"? Anyone who would attempt("push") such a thing, if it has any meaning beyond sharing ignorance or silliness, would scarcely be worth talking to or about.
