holy shit. thankfully that's just what looks like a flatbed with some metal bars or slabs on it - and not a tanker of oil or gas or gasoline. sure hope the driver got out okay.

I live in a building on the east side of 1-5 less than a block from cherry. The first explosion sounded like a someone had hit the garbage dumpster outside my building with a baseball bat, the second and third scared the living shit out of me. When I looked out the window I saw thick black smoke and the flames were extremely high. For about 5 minutes, my apartment smelled faintly of burned rubber.
Looks like they have it contained now, and traffic seems to be moving again.

Haven't you seen any Michael Bay movies? If you're good looking and have the right shoes you can outrun an explosion.

I was working my Monday morning volunteer shift at the Cherry St. Food Bank. We could see big, black clouds of smoke blow past us and if we went outside, we could even see the flames!!! The second of the two explosions was indeed pretty loud. Plus, it's the end of the month and that means more clients for the food bank. All considered, it was a pretty eventful morning, especially for a retired lady who doesn't go to see action movies.

Thank God he wasn't underneath the Convention Center when it blew...that would have been a nightmare. Good job keeping your head, Mr. Truckdriver.

Just think if we had somehow finished the tunnel by now. He could have used that instead.............
