Do you remember when you used to enjoy your job?
2
Damn, I love this time of year.

Stop hatin' on the 'cakes.

I dunno if it was the neverending tradition of sunday morning pancake-house brekky with grandma and grandpa, but I have always hated restaurant pancakes. (The fact that my pops refers to the thick, huge IHOP cakes as "sweat pads" doesn't help). But I have my momma's scratch recipe if you want it, it's the best in the whole goddamn world.

I went last year, or was it in 2009? Whenever it was it was ok. Besides not remembering dates I can't recall if IHOP served wheat style cakes or if just plain old white coloured kind.

@ 1 FTW. Same could be said about Brenden Kiley.

@1/@5: I love pancakes, and I love my job. (Here I am enjoying my job a lot over here this week and over here last week.) I don't love blogging about free pancakes, it's true, but I do it all for you. Thanks for your concern!

@3: That sweat pads thing may be with me for the remainder of my days.

I am sorry, BJC, I hope it doesn't ruin any future pancake experiences.

You should try real maple syrup next time.

More, I Say!: Nothing can ruin pancakes for me. My dad makes plain old Bisquick pancakes, and even those are SO GOOD. (We call them Dancakes. His name is Dan.) Does your mom's recipe use buttermilk?

I haven't had pancakes in at least a year. How did that happen? Time to get back on that horse.

In a strange synchronicitous event, we decided, all unknowing about the IHOP thing, to have pancakes, bacon, and sausages for dinner tonight (and fruit, and chard. We're not crazy.).

Pancakes: they're what's for dinner!

I grew up having pancakes every week in our kitchen, and that was great (especially when I could convince me mom to use food coloring).

Lately, the restuarant ones I've had (at places like Bob Evans), have been tasteless and so dense that I couldn't finish them. I want to find some good pancakes again.

No buttermilk! Just butter and milk....I can even make 'em vegan! Woohoo! (I know, I know, but one of my favourite girls in the world is a veg...)

Restaurant Week was infinitely more likely to provide a worthwhile value than Dine Around Seattle is, partly because many more meals tip the $25 mark than tip $30, but mostly because so many more truly high-end restaurants were involved. The set menus could easily be justified by the chance to try places that your budget wouldn't normally permit you to enter.

I see less than half a dozen places on Dine Around's list where you're likely to save any money at all. What are Via Tribunali and Barrio even doing there? Just how much pizza / many tacos would you have to order on a normal day for this to strike you as "a deal?"

Please wait...
