Basically, the question is this - do you want our hard earned dollars flowing south to Mexico to finance the narcoterrorists and clog up our courts and prisons with otherwise productive citizenry - or do you want them to stay here and for us be Free.

It's pretty simple.

And about 40 pct of the county level budgets.

Or .. it could be taxed and a revenue stream.

Simple. Straightforward. You're either for Liberty or you're Not.

@WIS

FTW!
3
When did you ask? If these 4 lawmakers haven't replied since yesterday -- or if it's been a week -- that would be nice to know!
4
I sent a pro-legalization letter last week to Murray, Pedersen and Chopp and requested a response. I got a response from Pedersen, I don't recall if I got anything from Murray. I know I didn't get anything from Chopp.
5
@3) We asked them on Friday and followed up yesterday.
6
the 11th district includes a large part of Beacon Hill and Georgetown; very much Seattle
7

I don't see Joni Balter among the persons queried.
8
@1 Well, plenty of what's available around here is actually from Canada or produced in-state. That said, if I'm going to be spending my money locally, they might as well collect tax on it!
9
You guys may want to check the blog HorsesAss, a quick quote from them..."(HB 1550) was advanced in the House by Speaker Chopp marking the bill NTIB (”Necessary To Implement Budget”)
10

How often does this conversation take place in Washington:

Grandma, do you have glaucoma yet so Skip and I can use your prescription?

11
right, but just cause he moved the bill doesn't mean he's voting for it, @9.
12
@9 + 11

Anyone confirm Chopp did move the bill forward?
13
@12) Chopp and Hunter approved holding a work session on the bill's subject matter, which isn't a hearing on the bill, exactly, but allows lawmakers to keep discussing the issue. My understanding is that someone would have to introduce a new bill--nearly identical--to keep it alive after that.
14
Who is this Frank Chopp? And who elects him? Does he even exist?

Thanks.

Hey now there, Dominic!

As a Seattle resident of that "tiny slice" of the 11th district -- which includes Georgetown, SODO, South Park, and more than half of Beacon Hill! -- I take offense at your little footnote!!!

And I really want to know what Sen. Margarita Prentice and Rep. Zack Hudgins think as well -- especially Hudgins since, in addition to representing that a fore mentioned "tiny slice", he also Chairs the Government Appropriations & Oversight Committee in the House!

(And want you to find that out for me too, big-shot reporter-guy!)
17
@Dom: The Forty-Thirdth District, eh?
18
DAMN YOU SANTOS!!!!

I'm a resident of the 37th here, becoming more and more displeased with Santos lately. We weren't happy with her recent DUI... now she's not responding to a rather simple inquiry from The Stranger?

I know she's the majority whip and all, but is there anyone maybe planning to challenge her in the 2012 primary?
19
Thanks Dominic.
20
Sen. Margarita Prentice prime-sponsored companion legislation in the senate, so she is obviously supportive.
21
"* Lawmakers in the 11th District aren't included because their mostly suburban district includes only a tiny slice of Seattle's residential areas."

And of course, *NOBODY* from those benighted suburban wastes reads The Stranger, or gives a damn about legalizing weed.

Idiots.
22
Glad to see Scott on the list.

It's Roll Call time!
23
Sounds like we need a bunch of people to email and call Santos and Chopp. *hint*
24
I have the stomach flu and finals are next week... Thank god for pot. I would be much worse off without it.
25
Just wrote and asked my reps from the Shoreline area the same question - Kagi, Chase and Ryu. (Anti-suburban bias be damned! It's right across the street!)

Will report if they answer.
26
btw....Santos is a state representative, not a senator. Important distinction to get right if you are going to be contacting her to support an issue.
27
After state stores can sell it, I hope they extend single-dosage sales of weed (joints, etc.) to coffee shops, like they do now with booze to bars. The social aspect to some of those coffee shops in Amsterdam is delightful.
28
@ 27--But you can't smoke it there. Or within 25 feet.
29
@27 You're gonna have a hard time getting around the smoking ban on that one, but allowing bakeries/pastry shops to sell pot goodies would be awesome. Could you imagine potite-fours from Essential Baking Co? Or hash ice cream from Molly Moon?

Please wait...
