I'm glad I'm in that extreme 1% minority that is familiar with the "right of return".
2
Another cool thing about his honesty is that from now on reporters needn't bother asking annoying "gotcha" questions like "what newspaper do you read?"
3
Oh, well, if he impresses asshat Sean Hanity, that's good enough for me.
4
Actually, I thought the most interesting part of the interview was when Hannity was telling Cain, "You brought Godfather's out of the red and into . . . uh (long pause) . . . profitability." He just couldn't bring himself to say "into the black."
5
He's not an idiot.
He's naive about politics and that would be his failing.

6
@5: No, not an idiot. He's very successful at what he does and that is laudable and takes brains. But he's not just naive about politics -- he's naive about the broader world outside the U.S. He would like to be sworn in as the President of the most powerful nation in the world, 19 months from today, but seems not to know basic high school stuff about the world, today. Obviously he'll never get elected, .but if he were, he'd be absolutely at the mercy of his foreign policy staff. And so would the rest of us. It's not enough just not to be an idiot.
7
And here I thought slog readers would be receptive to Cain's "Bottoms up" strategy...
8
Republicans want a dunce for president and this is news? Did you not live in this country from 2000 to 2008?
9
Right of return is retarded, but you should know what it is. Obama acts like he knows about these things...because he fucking does. He attended Columbia law school and I'm hoping actually learned something unlike the majority of the opposition he faces. I get seriously embarrassed for the Republican party when they put up these people. They do have a couple decent ideas, but it's incredibly overshadowed by the ignorant candidates and issues.
I knew what right of return was in tenth grade from reading Uris. Take more responsibility for reading up on things and teaching yourself.
Prediction: His campaign implodes not long before the primary, and is used for years as rightwing fuel to say that they had a black guy too.

I'm happy when someone admits they don't know something.

However, that willingness to admit ignorance is not the only thing I want in a politician. Someone seeking the Presidency (or a seat in the House or Senate of the USA) should be broadly knowledgeable.

"The thing that you're going to learn about Herman Cain, if he doesn't know something, he's not gonna try and fake it, or give an answer that he doesn't know what he's talking about."

Really, Herman? Because you just admitted to doing precisely that in the clip that Hannity just played for you, you ass.

Does this remind anyone else of GWB's "tribal sovereignty" response?

I think it's funny when they try to pass him off as some sort of successful small businessman: Pillsbury bought Godfather's, and put Cain in charge of it. Several years later, he and a group of investors bought it from Pillsbury. That's not "successful small business" - that's a company letting a mediocre brand be purchased by a retiring executive.

@9. I agree. But it's Harvard Law School, not Columbia.
14
@13 My mistake. Columbia undergrad, Harvard law. See? I can admit mistakes too. I think I should take WiS as my running mate.

Please wait...
