A new SurveyUSA poll sponsored by KING 5 in Seattle finds that McKenna has a clear lead against the two most likely Democratic candidates: U.S. Rep. Jay Inslee or Gov. Chris Gregoire, who hasn't said yet if she will seek a third term.

We like to call her the Grinch (the physical resemblance is uncanny).

Straits. It means tight. Narrow is the way, and strait is the gate. Strait jacket. Dire straits= in a tight spot.

McKenna hasn't even met his Tea Party challenger yet.

It occurs to me that 'dire straits' is probably from he version of strait that means a narrow waterway.

Strident and hectoring are two terms oft used against women with power. You just don't the terms used about powerful men.
