Maybe he's just not aware that other religions don't worship Christ.

I wish you were right about nobody bringing in the "values voters", but I think the evangelicals are going to be just fine holding their noses and voting for a Mormon.

And, in political news that actually matters, Daniel Ellsberg condemns Obama's wars in Libya and on whistle blowers.

While Obama the President once again does the opposite of what Obama the Candidate promised and gives special access to top donors.

But, hey, forget all that! Stupid Republicans are so stupid!

@3 - The fact that Democrats can be stupid too doesn't mean we have to stop pointing out when Republicans are stupid. You seem to want to talk only Obama's failures, all the time, and you get offended if anyone talks about anything else.
5
@3, and 4, BOTH parties are just fucking stupid and more than happily destroying the country. So let's stop fighting and watch what's on TV tonight!!!!!
6
Oh Jupiter, Zeus, Hera help us! Save us from these fucking idiots!
7
Prayer and fasting - that always works.

@4, no, no, I don't get offended. As a former teacher and behavioral specialist I do get frustrated when people don't take responsibility for their actions, instead choosing to point their fingers at others, even if the others are guilty. Nothing and nobody improves by pointing out the behaviors of others. Things and people only improve when they honestly assess their own behaviors.

The actions of Republicans shouldn't matter much to liberals, because liberals can't improve the predictably bad behavior of Republicans. Liberals should be able to do something about the conservative (and dishonest and illegal) behavior of Democrats, because liberals tend to vote for Democrats. And Democrats will continue to behave like Republicans as long as liberals support them when they do.

Obama hasn't had "failures," so much as he's just acted like a Republican. A "failure" is when you try to do something, and then fail. Obama has actually succeeded in being a dishonest authoritarian whose oppressive and destructive policies are supported by neo-conservatives. But the political writers here at Slog didn't even mention it when he signed an extension of the Patriot Act (after fighting liberal revisions to protect civil liberties), or that his war in Libya grows more illegal every day. If Obama was a Republican, those things would have been reported here, I'm sure.

@5, I agree 100% with you. I'm going to watch "the Black Death" on Netflix tonight!

Governor Goodhair makes G DUHbya look intelligent.

You're all really underestimating Rick Perry. Well, in one regard, anyway.

He's not rock-stupid, not really. I'm not claiming he's a genius; I think he's a middle-of-the-road politician as far as intelligence goes.

What he is, is a fucking lizard. He's a cold-blooded cynic who stumbled into a schtick that resonates with scared, undereducated fundamentalists in tiny shitty towns. Meanwhile he systematically dismantles everything that threatens the bottom lines of his sponsors - the Texas educational system, corporate financial oversight, safety regulations, unions.

He's a model Republican, really.

Copycat.

In November 2007, while Georgia suffered from one of the worst droughts in several decades, [Governor Sonny] Perdue, along with lawmakers and local ministers, prayed for rain on the steps of the state Capitol. This came shortly after Alabama Governor Bob Riley issued a proclamation declaring a week in July as "Days of Prayer for Rain" to "humbly ask for His blessings and to hold us steady in times of difficulty."

But maybe the reason he's a copycat is--it worked!

Just 3 months ago at the end of November, Lake Lanier was very close to its record low of 1,050.81 feet. It got all the way down to 1,051.35 feet, just 1/2 a foot away from the record. Since November there has been a solid amount of precipitation (even snow) that have helped fill the lake up to 1,057.45 feet as of March 1, 2009. That is an increase of 6 feet in a short amount of time and a good start to 2009 for Lake Lanier.

Please wait...
