"Secretary of State's office spokesman Brian Zylstra did not know when the petitions would be released or if there was any further potential for appeal."
Meaning that the the office, no doubt under direct orders from Secretary of State and GOP gubenatorial candidate McKenna himself, will stall, then drag their feet, then equivocate, then start stalling all over again, for as long as they possibly can.
The state Supreme Court has spoken. The United States Supreme Court has spoken. The federal courts have spoken, several times. What has to happen before they will follow the law?
#4 - You mean it will go to the US Supreme Court for a second time? The Court already heard the case once, and ruled in favor of release (on a condition that was handed back down to a lower federal court to review, resulting in this ruling.)
If they're afraid to have their names released, they should feel how scary it is to always have religious fanatics deciding their rights. Now that's scary. Fucking coward assholes.
@3 if someone anonymously put the names on Torrent, and directs the Stranger and other media to it, what are they going to do? Once public records are outed, that's it.
@10 perfect situation there and amusing. Equally amusing, if you ask me, if someone leveraged the full anonymous firepower of the properly-wielded Internet to stick them in the eye.
So once we finally get the names, who wants to go in on some Metro bus ads that say “I’m a Mormon” then lists as many names as we can legibly fit on one ad, and then keep putting them out till we’re through all the names?
@1 Do you have any understanding of how the state government operates? McKenna is the Attorney General, not the Secretary of State. That is Sam Reed, a very different man than Mr. McKenna in both duties & temperament.
You might do better hand-wringing over whether gremlins or orcs will attack you.

Hahaha. I know it won't; I just like his name.
Is there any way they can be fined or jailed for failure to comply with a court order?
