So great. Though I definitely share Fran Lebowitz's view, "Why do gay people want to get married and be in the military, which are the two worst things about being straight?” I also share her delight that we're now at least getting freer to do these awful things!

I hope I am not the only person who feels my nerd when I notice it is a naval officer named Gaeta in a same-sex relationship. I hope she doesn't lose her leg because of the freakish certainty a(n) (undefined entity) and lead a (seemingly reasonable but actually wrongheaded) mutiny.

(I do hope that a similarly iconic image of two men can emerge (though I think the older couple (with the Vietnam vet) in the New England cafe (was it VT or NH) could have been one))

@41-42, I can see this image being used in the future in a documentary about the evolution of gay rights in America. Indeed it is such a beautiful scene. One wonders which background music/song should go with it.

@33, indeed! But hey -- the name "Gaeta" was wrongly pronounced in the "reimagined" Battelstar Galactica series, not as it should be in Italian. (Let's face it: the reimagined series was no longer about Caprica and the 12 colonies and their survival; it was about the US, Europe, the West... The original series was much more 'exotic.')
