Indiana Jones? No, this is Kill Bill. I guess all of us white people look the same to you.
2
I suppose I should take the word of the Stranger's resident expert on weird and racist.
3
I just think they know where big business is going to be and they want in on the action. But they also know it can't be by force of arms like in the past.
4
Heh. Dusty-footed rock-climbers of all nations, manifesting as slackliners in city parks along their traditional migration routes, may be the most overlooked cultural cross-pollinators.

Circle the wagons, Pierre, it's an ambush!!

Yeah, the EU has been whining that since they can't compete against us Americans and their only strategy is to admit their funny money is way, way overvalued and they somehow can maintain their "superiority" by trading with the "wogs" to the East.

Nice try, Marco Polo, but the people of India, China and elsewhere are already way up the productivity curve. It's just a matter of time before some techie from Bangalore is vacationing in Paris and throwing you all high value rupees as tips which you will gleefully run away with into the streets like this:

@5 Yeah its a tad bit more to it... The EU was, is, will always be - a dead end project. Everyone said so when it began, when the monitery union started it got even wierder. We're (Sweden) part of the EU but not the monetary union because there was a huge popular resistance to entering aswell as allot of academic criticism of the union as a whole. Right now we're doing better than good, while the rest of the EU is slowly circling. The trade with the US has never been really that big - since you are all very pro protective taxation the most common partner is China.

But this ad... this shitty fucking ad. I think it has allot more to do with the rise of the right wing in Europe than anything else. Because with the suits come the uniforms and the nationalists. Islamophobia is on the rise and some places in the EU are not well off. Hell in allot of places even the old nazi partys are getting votes again.

The only thing that really scare me up here in the North is that our idiot goverment is trying to convince people NOW of all times that we should join the monetary union. Right wing pricks.

They used some whistlin' Western sounding music in the background, very USA cowboy style. What a bizarre mish mash, and definitely bigoted. I'll bet some libertarian policy group advised them.

The thing is, the only country in Europe that's really integrating foreigners at all is the UK, not the mainland EU. Bangladeshis in London have a route into society; Turks in Berlin and Algerians in Paris do not. That is the real "growing together", and Europe for the most part is not in the game. They are really going to be falling by the wayside in the coming decades compared to Los Angeles, Sao Paolo, Mexico City, Mumbai and Guangzhou.

Add-on; you thought that was racist, just a little commersial from our last election by one of the more soft core right wing nationalist parties of Europe, Sverigedemokraterna:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BgiG9aRNR…

In Switzerland the "immigrant/foreigners/darkies issue" was handled by their right wing nutjob nationalist party as a poster where a white sheep kick a black one out of the country.

And heres a photo of a Jobbik party (one of two large nationalist and fascist party's in the country) rally in Hungary

My point is that that specific racist shit video is just the tip of the iceberg and significant of an even nastier current. Especielly in those parts of the EU more affected by the economic crisis.

Well, Europe is better at socialism than China. I dunno about Brazil, but ya, China and India are kind of barbarians. Not in the barbarbar foreigner sense, but as uncivilized. Better than Afghanistan, but still a long road ahead of them.

Unless you're a frustrated old school Marxist, there is nothing wrong with this ad.
11
I think you're confusing and intermixing race, culture, and religion.

A may or may not overlap B which may or may not overlap C, but A == B == C is demonstrably false.
12
More facist than racist really. I got the impression the point was that the EU wants to expand to include those other nations...granted by seemingly enveloping them and eliminating their own culture, but this is facism, not racism. We all know how much Europe loves facism.

You are mixing up culture and race here (not surprising). No where in the ad did I see a condemnation of people with differing skin tones. Still kind of fucked up though, I am not trying to say that facism is not inherently racist as well.
13
@12 You keep using that word. But I don't think it means what you think it means.
14
The only racism here exists in the fevered imagination of Charles and those sloggers who reliably fall all over themselves to equate "white" with "evil". Seems to me they're saying they welcome non-whites and those from different cultures.

Still, if it comes down to a fight, I'm rooting for the cute white chick.

Just 500 years back 40% of world's GDP came from India. 1000 years back 60% from India and 30% from China. At the end of colonization India's share of world's GDP dwindled to less than 2%. First Arab/Turk loot and then real plundering by Angloes.
16
Eh did the Chinese just jump two floors, the Indian fly in air and the African did the Brazilian Chinese Kung-Fu?

I am sure the lone EU-American Kill Bill women do get about all this by replication technology so the jumping Chinese, flying Indian and the Brazilian African sit down and then suddenly disappear just like that and make stars out of the Kill Bill women.

Please wait...
