The GOP constantly tells everyone that government is broken and doesn't work. So by breaking deals and throwing wrenches in the gears, they're simply making their beliefs a self-fulfilling prophesy.

I like how Bill Maher puts it: "The republicans say that government doesn't work, then they get elected and prove it."
