Cue Republican whining that the President should be working 24/7, and just think how many jobs a Republican PotUS might have created (and just how much lower gas prices would be) in the four hours Obama took off to hep it up with celebrities.
Funny how the GOP thought the most important question in '04 was, "Who would you rather have a beer with?" (especially when their candidate was an alcoholic), but they've been completely downplaying the likeability factor since. Maybe it's because the camera adores Obama, and their subsequent candidates have had all the charm of a corpse. Especially in McCain's case.
I typically enjoy his speeches anyway, but hearing this presentation makes me think that maybe the State of the Union should get this treatment just once.
Obama needs to be careful here. Being incredibly cool, charming, engaging, and smart, and being on the right side of an issue that makes a huge difference in a lot of people's lives, might upset some hypothetical independent voter somewhere.
But, hey, if you're going to be an authoritarian who regularly destroys the lives of innocent people at home and abroad, it's good to be cool, charming, engaging, and smart while you're at it.
Or not...what the Pell do I know?
