Looks like dinner to me.

I thought roosters weren't allowed within the city limits? I'm with #1, it'll definitely be dinner for someone or something. If someone does catch it, be sure to cook it with some black and green olives and chopped tomatoes with a half bottle of cheap dry white wine.
3
@ 2, is that the recipe for poor man's coq au vin? "Step one - catch escaped rooster that's illegal in your community anyway..."
4
I was wondering where the one at the Glass Museum escaped to.

Dale Chihulhy was all worried about it at the showing of Woman on the Fifth Floor.
5
Unfortunately, there are much bigger cocks in Belltown. And not in a good way.
6
dammit, we have to cancel the 5 Points chicken dinner special unless we catch that little cock.
8
Not the first time I've seen a big ol' rooster in some Belltown back alley.... er, wait, I mean penis.
9
I love urban farming.
10
@2: I believe roosters who were living in Seattle when the new law was passed were grandfathered in.
11
That's a hen. Look at the rounded tail feathers. She's a bantam, probably a Japanese or an English game.
13
@ 12, I thought a spur was discernible on one leg, but that may be a trick of the angle. (Only cocks have spurs.)
14
either way, that hen will make a good dinner :)
15
Just not a good coq au vin dinner. :(
16
if it's an big old hen, then it'll make for a good poule au pot
17
@11 is right. It's a hen - some kind of banty... Could be an Old English Game Hen but based on the wings I'm guessing Japanese Bantam.

@13 - What looks like a spur is actually the 4th toe, hence the reason you can only see it on the leg that's lifting off the ground.

For some reason people don't think hens have combs. They do. Rooster's combs are much, much bigger except in cockerels (immature roosters). This one looks fully mature though.

Look at him strutting like he's the cock of the walk.

@2-That recipe sounds positively fowl!

Please wait...
