It's good to know something of Ms. Leonidas. Few things bring comfort to all of us like light (music is another); and to shape and shade and color it for our benefit, though seldom to our conscious consideration, is a noble profession.
With condolences for the personal loss her family, friends and colleagues all suffer. I wish them in due time the peace and wonder of a scene by Maxfield Parrish, who also molded light.
very nicely done - simple and apropos - more powerful than words
@3 has a point... even if he/she is also guilty. MLK is ultimately right on with that statement and there are a few at the Stranger who would benefit from giving that some thought, especially in light of this tragedy - too many times Sloggers lead with cheap hateful statements (and no, the fact that the "other side" uses hateful statements does NOT make it acceptable - that's the whole point of King's statement).

If you want to know what IESNA does, look up: Seattle's LED street lighting program owes much to the IESNA, and quite possibly to Ms. Leonidas.
someone needs to FYI Danny.
Oh, and @3? Y'all would do well to take a little peek in a mirror.
