It's good to know something of Ms. Leonidas. Few things bring comfort to all of us like light (music is another); and to shape and shade and color it for our benefit, though seldom to our conscious consideration, is a noble profession.

With condolences for the personal loss her family, friends and colleagues all suffer. I wish them in due time the peace and wonder of a scene by Maxfield Parrish, who also molded light.

That's beautiful, here's hoping Town Hall keeps it as a permanent installation.

If you want to know what IESNA does, look up: Seattle's LED street lighting program owes much to the IESNA, and quite possibly to Ms. Leonidas.

Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that......

someone needs to FYI Danny.

This is so, so beautiful. Peace to the Leonidas family. I hope they find some comfort in this gesture.

I went to a wedding this weekend in a building in which she’d done the lighting design and controls. Her work shines on.
6
That is lovely and a very fitting tribute. Nicely done Town Hall staff.

That's wonderful. Well done.
9
That made me cry. I'm so glad they're doing this for her.
Oh, and @3? Y'all would do well to take a little peek in a mirror.
10
God, that's hauntingly beautiful.

very nicely done - simple and apropos - more powerful than words

@3 has a point... even if he/she is also guilty. MLK is ultimately right on with that statement and there are a few at the Stranger who would benefit from giving that some thought, especially in light of this tragedy - too many times Sloggers lead with cheap hateful statements (and no, the fact that the "other side" uses hateful statements does NOT make it acceptable - that's the whole point of King's statement).

Beautiful and what a great gesture by Town Hall.

This whole horrible event cascade has made me sad, but it never made me cry. That memorial made me cry. Beautiful, lonely light.

Please wait...
