My dad did signals interception during the Cuban Missile Crisis when he was in the USAF.

The second Castro dies, let's just end the embargo in return for Cuba holding the GITMO trials for us.

I won't lie. As a child of the sixties, I can't wait to see his cold corpse. Bastard.
3
Where's Castro's so called "Socialized Medicine" now?

Not much help, is it?

Yeah El Nuevo Herald , the bone that the Miami Herald throws to the crazy Cubans in Dade County is a reliable source with deep connections in the Island. Next you'll be citing Beck. El Nuevo Herald is as credible as Cuba's Granma. Crazy Cubans in Dade have been killing Fidel for 60 years. Thei leader Mas Canosa died 10 years ago and the republican loving Exiles still live for the day an old man dies. He proly died last year, but El Nuevo Herald will be the last to know.

Nixon was right about ending the war in Vietnam, approving the Space Shuttle, and Title 9, and creating the EPA.

It's so fucking lazy to hate on Nixon.
6
@5, it's also lazy to point out some serious flaws in Obama but hey, it's Slog so let's be lazy!
7
Yeah! We got him! USA! USA! USA!

@ 3

Fidel Castro is 86. Socialized medicine seems to have served him just fine.

P.S. We have socialized medicine in this KKKuntree too--it's called Medicare.
9
I will be sad when Castro dies.

@5 Yeah he did some good things, why does anyone even talk about his list of enemies, money laundering, or his subversion of the very democratic principles this country was founded on. All that did was shake America's faith in it's government to this very day. What a load of fucking nothing!

P.S. Yeah Nixon really wanted to end the war in Vietnam, it was distracting him from his passion of secretly bombing Cambodia and Laos.

Cuba is a mess. Like many other Caribbean countries, it,s been a mess ever since colonization began. repeated interference by foreign powers with no real investment in improving the lives of the people living there, a series of petty dictators and con-men Presidents-just when you think that place can't get any worse, it does.

Everyone wants a magic bullet-just get rid of Castro and Cuba will be a wonderful place. That's what we said about the Duvaliers in Haiti, too. But the problems in this region are deep, systemic problems reinforced by constant foreign intervention. The only thing that will save these countries is if the rest of the world just backs the fuck off and lets them collapse, rebuild from the ashes in an organic or natural way, and develop on their own. Our repeated attempts at "development" never work or serve only to prop up some insane monster of a leader, whether it be Fulgencio Battista or Papa and Baby Doc.

I agree with @11, but I'll still be happy when Castro is gone.

Please wait...
