Here's a link for a petition to DEPORT all those that signed the original secession nonsense!

CASCADIA NOW! /s
3
Wait, is this a petition to create Cascadia? Fucking finally....
4
Secession?

Um, nah, just split us into three states: Martha (Sealth County, Seattle, capitol Republic of Fremont, includes all West of Lake Washington), Washington (rest of Western Washington, capitol Mercer Island), and Lincoln (Eastern Washington, capitol Spokane).

Do similar things to Oregon and Cali and throw in DC an Puerto Rico as states and we have 60 stars on the flag!
5
Wow, most are not from WA. What's up with that?

I actually have something in common with them. I'd like the Seattle metro area to secede from the state of WA. Imagine being able to decide for ourselves what and how we're taxed, and whether to spend money on roads or trains.
7
Fuck yeah! Let's put Dan's picture on our money!
8
Isnt' calling for secession treason?
9
Why not? We've got progressive social policy, more than our share of military asets, and a positive balance of trade even before you count transactions with the other 49.

And it's a proactive move vs California's eventual grand water grab.
10
@9 - most of those military assets do not belong to the state of Washington, but rather to the federal government. I'm guessing even a lot of what's used by the Washington State National Guard technically doesn't belong to the state.
11
@10 about half of our state is either federal or native lands. State laws rarely apply there.
12
As of this post, there were 2140 signatures on the petition. 398 of them (fewer than 1/5) were signed by people who claim to be residents of Washington. A whopping 132 of them were signed by people who claim to be residents of Texas, and about half of those who signed declined to include their state of residence.
13
@ 8, no. Because of abuse by the Kings of England (esp. Henry VIII), treason is very clearly defined in the Constitution. It's either actually rebelling (not just talking about it), or giving aid and comfort to those who are.

I'm not sure what jurisprudence or anything that happened during Reconstruction says about the matter, but I'm unaware of anything that even now defines secession as treason. I think that's one of those things that modern-day Confederate wannabe asshats use to support their arguments that the South was right.
14
@8 - Lots of things should be treated as treason. I, for one, would love to see (actual) voter fraud and election tampering tried and punished as treason.
15
Maybe they are thinking of the Washington, as in Washington, DC? If Washington DC succeeds, then Obama won't be the president of the United States anymore! He will be the president of Washington DC.
16
@15 um, no. Cause DC doesn't have any real members of Congress.
17
People who are unhappy being Americans can simply renounce their citizenship:

Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.
18
If Washington secedes from the union, can we declare war on Texas?

Do we get to keep the nukes & subs at Bangor?
19
We should definitely gerrymander State boundaries on the criteria that some people are feelin' more than their own State. The country would be super awesome.
20
I imagine the same out of state assholes' names are on every secession petition.
21
Wow. Who knew that the US would turn into an episode of Survivor. Can we vote Mississippi out first?
22
We r F'd in the A... I voted for secession... I am GLAD I did...
23
Until you government lovers can grow out of voting on how to spend other peoples money, Cascadia is still a good idea because you can have your oppressors be within shooting range instead of 3000 miles away. then imagine a government not based on theft or coercion...

I saw a few people refer to this as Treason.
I'm betting those same people don't have a problem with the Treason committed on 9/11.
We lost 3000 people, started 2 wars and curtailed liberties to everyone.
Yes,I'm one of the crazy people that know 9/11 was an inside job.
I've been a Structural Steel Fabricator for 30+ years.
I've fabricated Columns and Connecting Beams for a lot of buildings such as: The Seahawks and Mariners Stadiums, Portland International,SF International,Intel and many many more.
I've studied the design of the towers and can say with out the slightest doubt, that it was Impossible, for them to come down as they did.
But who am I? Just some crazy guy who knows and understands buildings, and their design and construction.
