1
Diplomacy would make for a great icebreaker game with people that don't know each other.
2
paul, you forgot the annual slog happy gift exchange.
3
If you can, give Dominion a try.
4
Elder Sign anyone?
5
I would like to try Elder Sign!!
6
Oh I'm in. I'll bring some smaller/faster games to boot. Last time this came up a couple folks were interested in Chrononauts...
7
I AM THERE!!!! YIIPPEE!!!!
8
Drinks there yet?
9
huh, I thought I was going to Ray Gun at that time for a ladies-only gaming event: http://www.facebook.com/events/504528549…
10
Oh. Can't read. Dur.
11
Diplomacy takes too long sometimes.

Elder Sign sounds fun.
12
@1 I'm probably the only Slog reader to find this hysterical.
13
I am so excited, you have no fucking idea. You guys now owe me new pants.
14
eeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
15
By the way, Settlers of Catan is best played by its strip variant rules.

Basically, 1 victory point = 1 garment.
16
Good point @15. One of my colleagues just picked that up.

Since he's from S Korea, probably plays it Gangam style.
17
Mmmmmm Catan ooooh Dominion
18
Too bad A Mighty Fortress takes 18 hours to play. It's a great way to get six people to stab each other in the backs repeatedly. I could have my buddy mail me the only copy I've ever seen.
19
For those us who have time for this type of foolishness during Happy Hour, there's always the Rendezvous.
20
Yaaaaaaaaay!
21
Go see the Tragically Hip at Sodo.
22
Ooh, I miss the Tragically Hip.

New Orleans is sinking, and I don't know how to swim, @21.
23
There's plenty of room to have two events going on at once. They're not going to kick out all of the dudes from the entire lounge :p
24
Hi, Eric from the Raygun Lounge here. We regularly double and triple book events because it creates a great community atmosphere (as you can see from our calendar http://www.gammaraygamestore.com/events/… we overlap events practically every night of the week). We thought that Ladies Night and Slog Night would be a great mix. We've received some feedback from both groups suggesting we may have been wrong about that so we're looking into it. I can assure you, however, that whatever happens, we love Ladies, we love the Slog, and we love games, and we guarantee that both groups will get their respective regular Friday nights whether they choose to spend them together or not.
25
Eric, from Gamma Ray & the Raygun, I love how you thoughtfully mash-up your communities for maximum entertainment and adventure :-).
26
Eeeeee! You waited 'til I got back from Mexico to host the Nerdy Slog Happy!!
(Or you waited 'til they started serving booze, but I'm gonna be self-centered here.)

Can't wait to play games with y'all!
27
@12 Nope, I totally giggled thinking of the few times I've played Diplomacy. It would definintely be an interesting ice-breaker.
28
20 min - 2 player: Flash Duel
20 min - group: Resistance
60 min: Galaxy Trucker
90 min: Alien Frontiers
120 min: Merchants and Marauders

Hi downbythefreeway @9: We checked with Lounge staff to make sure that there were no conflicts on the 7th; we were flexible about dates. I didn't hear about your event until after I published this post, and I'm sorry if you're upset. As I understand it, the Lounge would still have been open to the public—men and women—during your event, even if the Slog event didn't happen. I promise we won't interfere with your event; I just want everyone to have a good time. We'll all be playing games, and there will be tables set aside for both groups.
30
But, careful, @9 - If you try to attend two events simultaneously in the same place, you will tear a hole in the fabric of space-time.
31
Hi, Ashley from Queer Geek here, I planned the ladies meetup. I'm sure we can all fit in the lounge next Friday. Plus I'd love to kick Paul Constant's ass in Small World ;)
32
Also let's not lose sight of the fact that the two groups are not mutually exclusive.
33
Thanks for being so generous with our scheduling quirks everyone. We're very confident that it's all going to work out great. But if, worst case scenario, both groups are so popular that it just gets too crowded, we'll alternate future Fridays to make sure that there's friendly, inclusive room for everyone going forward.

can we bring cookies?

Please wait...
