God was there, only he was there to collect the souls as they entering heaven. Otherwise, all those people would just go to hell regardless of the faith and commitment to him.

I always think the bleating about God "not being allowed" in public school is silly. When I started school, prayer was still allowed, so we said a prayer at lunch everyday. That ended in second grade, but as a mediocre student who was raised religious, I used to pray in school to myself all the time (that I would pass tests, that I would get a good report card, etc) - and they were much more sincere prayers than anything we said as a group over our milk cartons.

What is just terrible and insensitive about that horrid man's assertion is that I have no doubt some of those children were praying quite intensely while this event was going on, and crying out to God to save them.

Well said, Catalina Vel-DuRay.

If we hadn't outlawed prayer at Batman premieres and in suburban shopping malls, none of that would have happened either, right?

So, basically, anyone, anywhere, who is a victim of violence brought it on themselves: they didn't pray hard enough.
Got it.

Curious, Catalina, where did you go to school and what year?

How does one explain the shooting at the Sikh temple in Wisconsin? They were praying but doing it wrong?

Brad, I started kindergarten in the fall of 1970, and was entirely matriculated in the Council Bluffs, Iowa Community School District, graduating in 1983..

LollyJean, what about the horrific fire at Chicago's Our Lady of the Angels Catholic School in 1959, that killed 90 students and three nuns? While it was never proven, it is largely assumed to have been arson. Surely God was there that day....

Please wait...
