You know, there's two obvious paths here:
1. Everyone finally realizes that we're wading into some deep poop, that the climate pendulum has only just started to swing against us (actually, we're still pushing it), and humanity bands together to address the situation before... well, before it leads to hairless ape extinction.
2. Humanity does not band together, the global middle class drives more CO2-spewing cars than ever, coal-based electricity increases, inefficient farming continues... leading to more weather catastrophies, and an eventual reduction in population.
Considering that #2 is more likely to happen, the best is to prepare yourself and your family with skills to handle the weird times ahead, remain flexible and resilient, and hope for the best when the shit comes down. Which it will do very slowly, of course.
I'm all for moving to a sustainable/solar energy economy, and also a post-positive-interest economy. And I actively support those initiatives. But we're still in for a helluva ride.
Good luck!
