"Tickets are $35 per person and include a copy of The Ocean at the End of the Lane. They can be picked up at our U District store after June 18 or at the venue on the night of the event, but cannot be shipped out."
Success! I guess the green "tickets" button hadn't gone live yet. It opens a pop=up for purchasing now. Yay.
That June 18th note just means you have to physically go to the store to collect your book and ticket between June 18th and the event. They're not shipping orders.
How about $10 to Mr. Gaiman directly to cover his speaking fees, rather than $35 for speaking and on an extravagant paper weight that I'll read once and probably never look at again?
@8 Bookstores across the country are having trouble, right? Well, unfortunately, a lot of times when they've hosted super popular authors they can end up LOSING money over the event (more the case for free readings, but still). One relatively recent solution has been including a book purchase with the event ticket price. This way everyone involved (store and author) make some sales, and the excited fans get the book (perhaps a second copy to gift?). At least, that's how it was explained to me last year in anticipation of John Green's "The Fault in Our Stars" tour.
Looks like they cannot be bought "right now".
In any case, why have that tempting green "tickets" button (not available on many of the events links)? Just to taunt us?!?
