Well, I assume there would have been some kind of prize for winning.
2
Yeah because these tongue in cheek bingo boards really change minds and facilitate a dialogue. That last part is on a corporate speak bingo board btw
3
The "bingo-board" meme rests entirely on the assumption that only novel arguments are true.
4
I want Five Large to do one like this.
5
Slog n' friends are really quite adept at discovering politically interesting things on phone poles, aren't they? yep...quite adept ;)

"That in itself wouldn't have prevented the shooting"

"Any gun control is denying me my second amendment right created by Justice Scalia"

"Can we vote on that"

"Buses are mass transit"

"They're poor, why should they complain about eating Canadian geese" (h/t mother-in-law)

What, there's no option to nuke the fuckers?
8
It's not even that good but perhaps there's actually points to be made that these are just dismissing. It's an easy way to feel like you've won an argument.
9
Terrible typography.

I can't figure out if this means Crown Hill wants to host the camp, or if Crown Hill just wants to keep the camp right where the "Highline [sic] Park Action Committee" doesn't want it.

10 reasons why so many people are moving to Texas

7. Family-friendly

Because of its good-value housing, Texas has been particularly popular with families, and some of its cities now have an above-average number of children. San Antonio is home to the largest community of gay parents.

In Texas, you can have a reasonable mortgage and pretty good schools, says Grieder. And restaurants are invariably family-friendly.

"You hear about the high drop-out rate but Texas education scores pretty well at national tests for 4th and 8th graders in math, reading and science. The aggregate is about average.

"The perception is that Texas has poor schools but it's not correct. Across the country in general, we don't have schools as good as we would like them to be."

In eighth-grade maths, for instance, Texas scored higher than the national average and outscored the three other big states of California, New York and Florida. On Sunday, an education budget was approved that restored cuts made in 2011.

"play a long"?

As the person who hung the flyer (and not who designed it) I would like to say a few things. First off, Thank you and your welcome to The Stranger, I have a master copy if you want a fresh one to hang in the office. Secondly, these were put up in different areas around the city not limited to crown hill so the commenter who is confused as to that subliminal message, there is none. I also might add that NIMBY Bingo is great fun and of course designed to be played by any and all age groups. Wake up people, they dont care about us - Ethos
14
@13 Hey I just won hobo-bingo! Do I win a pack of smokes and a malt liquor now?
15
@11 - Move and let us know how successful you are in a few years.

I just don't get why people are content with tent cities being an acceptable answer to homelessness. The question isn't whether "property owners" are greedy bastards trying to keep homeless camps out of their neighborhoods, it's why we think housing the homeless in a tent with no running water or sewer services is even close to good enough.
17
You wouldn't have to change too many of these items to create a NIMBYNGO for the anti-microhousing crowd.
18
@13

Tell the designer to look up the name of the neighborhood adjacent to Nickelsville, and have someone make some corrected copies for you to put up, once they've figured it out. Or "woken up," if you prefer.
19
Wow- pretty classless Akaethos. The highland park neighborhood has put up with the nickelsville encampment illegally squatting on city land for over two years. They have every right to ask the city's cooperation in moving the encampment to a more appropriate location (one that actually has running water and sewer access. I'm disgusted at the vitriol in this flyer- where is the understanding and gratitude to a neighborhood that has provided countless hours of volunteerism and donations to the people of nickelsville?
20
@19 - Spot on.
People of Seattle love to get all righteous and anti 'nimby', until the reality of the situation smacks them upside the head, and yes, lands in their backyard.....or into the Duwamish Greenbelt that the 'nimby's' have worked and volunteered in to try and reclaim from the fucking ivy, holly and blackberry that is taking over and destroying the largest contiguous section of forest land anywhere in the city, yet now find it the easily accessed camping spot for the asshole addicts that get kicked out of Nickellsville.
I want to thank any and all who find the situation at Nickellsville intolerable for both the people who live their and the people who live around it. What is the solution? Don't ask me, but the damn city council members who make $100K plus and all their surrogates haven't done jack shit to work towards a real solution until the Highland Park people started calling them out. And is there something wrong with that? No, it is how the system works.

Please wait...
