I hope none of them get any more tattoos, but since they're getting these atrocities removed for free, and also got more attention from them, I'm guessing my hope is wasted.
Maybe tattoo shops should self-impose a 24 hour waiting period on anyone wanting to get tattooed.
No unintended mispellings? No inappropriate Chinese or Kanji characters tattooed upside down? No images that could be easily mistaken as something scatological?
why the fuck is the "worst tattoo" a tattoo that is only visible if the owner is facing straight down a wind tunnel?
can we have another "every 4-6 years" arbitrary Stranger writer/contributor/editor shuffle? Y'all are gettin pretty transparent on the "We dont even care enough to walk to work".
@8: Wash DC is considering imposing a 24 waiting period for tattoos and piercings and my impression of the artists' responses kind of mirrors what you said: many vehemently against it, others not so much because they don't do walk-ins anyway.
@4,
Oh, I know that. I was just throwing it out there as a "wouldn't it be nice if..." thing.
That said, why on Earth would you want to pay for someone to remove a superficial mistake that they asked for? Shouldn't they at the very least have to pay to remove the marks of their own immaturity/stupidity/impulsivity/etc.?
I would definitely NOT be in favor of laws forcing a waiting period, not at all. I just think the tattoo shop owners should do it themselves (not that they ever would).
@12, I feel the same way as you, in general, but someone posted the back-story of the person with the Dylan tattoo; when abuse, emotional manipulation, and trauma are involved in the origination of the tattoo, I think I can chip in $5 or so.
I'm with @14. Anyone who reads the back story on the Dylan tattoo should agree. I am in for $10 to remove the Dylan tattoo. Please post the Kickstarter link and we'll get that thing undone.

Regarding the runners up, if anyone know how to start a fund for them, I'd pitch in a few bucks.
Of course, if you get it done now and want anybody to actually see what the hell it is when you're seventy, same thing.
In general, but most of the good artists don't do walk-ins, the're way booked out.
What kind of contest was this, anyway?

The tats were there to distract from the enormous fivehead.
