You forgot to mention that it costs $10 to get in.
2
No doubt there will be a symbolic grave for Richard Conlin that Kshama Sawant will dance on.
3
@1 "$10 suggested donation (no one turned away)"

2,289 votes.

It is amazing how few voters it takes to swing an election.

A very small swing and we'd still have Conlin -- however you want to characterize him: right-wing reactionary running dog lackey or staunch green liberal -- back in office.

Elections do count. So does getting out the base.

I think the best thing to come from all of this is people getting more interested in their local elections, which can be more important than the national ones.

Plus it is gonna be fun watching the commie go down.
6
One of the more delicious ironies of Seattle is that the SEIU offices are housed in the former headquarters of the Seattle Chamber of Commerce. Why they moved from that magnificent building is beyond me.
7
@1

$10? That's an insult to this living breathing revolution! It should be $1000! Other than bringing the gift of Socialism to our lives, Kshawma should be so well funded that she should never have to work again ever. Hail the Goddess!

@5

Definitely agree about civic engagement.

But I wouldn't assume that she will implode.

People do have the capacity to change. The Nice Kshama may come out and charm people.

Plus it's a cliche that candidates don't act the same when they are in office, especially in a local situation where people are calling her office and ASKING FOR HELP on very specific, prosaic, ordinary things like potholes, building permits (getting or stopping), garbage in the alley, marking school crossings etc etc. She may be great at it and work well with her colleagues and bureaucracy.

In fact she'd better work well with them since I suspect that she knows NOTHING about the City of Seattle bureaucracy and she will need practical assistance from colleagues so that she can help her own constituents. She will not get re-elected if she can't help people with practical stuff.

Then again she may not even give a hoot about assisting Single Family Capitalists or her idea of helping constituents is to send a copy of Das Kapital.

Personality is destiny.

@7 - Oh hey, that's clever.

No, wait, it's that other thing... tedious.

You do know that there's something like 40 comments in your history that basically say "Sawant is a generic liberal same as any other Seattle Democratic NIMBY" and "rent control is never going to happen." "Crow socialist. Act liberal" in your words.

You've repeated a half dozen times that "elections matter" too. Even though you are positive that she's really no different than everybody else on the City council. Are you trying to say this election only maters to Richard Conlin? Because you seem certain that it won't matter at all to Seattle.

Although you probably don't mean it. You keep repeating that she won by sheer luck. But then sometimes you think she won because of The Stranger. Er, nope, it was pure luck. Er, nope, she won because she got out the vote. I mean luck. Not GOTV, luck. Er, actually she won because she had this awesome amazing "socialism gimmick". Er, no it was luck, because "Sawant will make socialism look bad, and what's worse, comical". Oh, no, not luck: smart politics. She's smart because she's an ordinary liberal who pretends to be a socialist! Smart!

So elections matter, BUT, Sawant is just more of the same old same old. She won because of luck. Except for all the smart things she did. Or not. Acting like a socialist makes her look dumb. But also it's what got her elected! Oh, wait, changed my mind. Luck is the only reason. Ask me tomorrow and I'll flip flop again...

How about you throw up your and admit you have no idea why things happen, nor do you know what will happen until after it happens. And even then, you're of at least two minds as to what actually did happen.

Great incoherent rant and stalker like behavior.

If an authoritarian left millionaire asshat like, Dave Meinert or Nick Hanauer gave her 1 MILLION DOLLARS would they be spared from the purge?

He also forgot to name the location.

Journalism at its finest, expect no less from socialist hero and future Propaganda Minister David “Goldy” Goldstein.

That went way over your cowering head.

No one more viciously insulting than rightwingers who have to experience a true leftwinger win office.

@11

Thanks for the opinion, Guy Who Keeps Making Incorrect Predictions.

Oh, wait, I just pointed out how you keep guessing the wrong thing is going to happen. That means you're going to say, "Duhhhh, no fat chicks! Huh huh."

Speaking of which. Post a pic, OK? You keep talking about Kshama Sawant's thighs. Now we wanna see your thighs. Let's see it hot stuff.
19
McGinn is closing, bitches!

@8

Waaaaait! "Personality is destiny"! Destiny!

I thought it was all LUCK! Or GOTV. Or the socialism gimmick. Now it's personality!

You're like a guy who likes bacon but you can't just say, "I like bacon" because every dude says that so you want it to sound smart. So you act like you invented liking bacon and you've got 19 contradictory reasons why bacon tastes good. And nobody but you truly gets bacon.

Stop the bullshitting. The only clear idea I'm get from you is don't want condos in your neighborhood. Fair enough. Leave it at that and don't dress it up in all this handwaving.
21
@16
Not really. I considered the possibility you got it, but your comment is so typical of what you would say about Goldy anyway that its lameness canceled out any cleverness that might have been hoped for in the first place.
23
@9

Ok ok you rascal, your comment is more clever than mine. Congradulations buddy boy But just you wait, just you wait! See you back here again, same Kshawma time, same Kshawma channel.
I'm out.

C of C to SEIU.
Intriguing story.
But where is it?

I googled SEIU and got
1914 N 34th St.
Seattle, WA 98103
That seems to be a fairly new multi-tenant building.

The old Seattle C of C is indeed gorgeous:
215 Columbia St

But it seems to be owned by Pacific NW Title.
Is SEIU also there?

Thx,
25
Yes David dear. You should come downtown sometime and have a look around. The huge SEIU banners on the front of 215 Columbia are a dead giveaway. Do I need to explain how the whole tenant/landlord thing works?
26
@25

I think he's just trying to create confusion.

Here's some of her followers at Volunteer Park today:

@27,
Ah, good, another day on the SLoG didn't go by without featuring children being shot dead. Are you sure this isn't the training film for the following march on City Hall (only a few blocks away) ?

@26

if he is trying to create confusion, which i'm skeptical that he is, it's not a half bad approach. A lot of the media we read and see everyday uses the same tactic.
31
If there are really only 115 votes or so left to count in SeaTac, then the minimum wage should pass since it will take an 81 to 34 vote victory for the noes to eke out a one vote victory. In other words, the noes need 70% of the remaining votes -- a higher percentage than any single day of the count. It's going to be very close, but a victory nonetheless.
32
No Catalina, I don't get downtown very often.

So I haven't been by 215 Columbia to see the banners.

So thanks very much for pointing it out. That was extremely gracious.
33
You're welcome, David dear. Noblesse oblige, and all that....
34
@19: McGinn lost, asshole, and so did you.
35
I'd rather get gang-raped in India than go watch Goldy lick this cunt's asshole some more.
36
I think it's funny watching the pro Sawant people thinking the entire nature of the political landscape in Seattle is going to change (aren't YOU in for a huge shocker!) and how the anti-Sawant crowd thinks this is the end of the world.

Modern politics is nothing but over-hyped delusions
37
@33: If you need a butler, remind me to send you my resume.
38
Why is another rally scheduled during a Seahawks game? Is it that leftys hate football?

Anyway, I'm not gonna be there.
39
David Sucher--What do you mean by "Single Family Capitalists." Capitalism is ownership of the means of production. Please tell us how single family houses with an average value of a quarter million bucks at most constitute "means of production."

By using such an idiotic phrase (capitalized no less), All you are doing is undermining your own credibility.
40
Wait Sawant has big thighs? A powerful kinda bitchy, "ethnic" looking woman with big thighs? Somewhere Robert Crumb just got hard ....
41
Catalina.
I was in fact just downtown and drive down Columbia.
As of 8:30 PM Sunday, today, there are no banners on 215 Columbia for SEIU or any organization.
I assume they must have been taken down after you posted, sometime late last night or today.
42
Word: White men be freaking out!

This chick is smart and uppity and doesn't know her place.

Joel Connelly is already shitting his pants.

Please wait...
