If true, my sympathies for Tom's father. Perhaps it would be a good idea for Mr. Tom take a leave of absence now, or even better, just to resign so as not to burden the taxpayers of the great state of Washington with having to pay a salary for work not done. I hope that the driver of the car has been charged and I hope Mr. Tom's father is up and about soon.

Best wishes to his father, but besides that unusual twist it's just the same "resigning to spend more time with my family" bullshit. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out, traitor.

So this is to gear up for a 2016 run. What do you guys think? Governor or Congress?
You know he'll be back.
4
Best wishes to his father, good riddance to him.

My sympathies to Rodney Tom and his father. That is a very serious injury to try to recover from at 85. A lot of elderly folks do not do well after a serious hip injury, and a femur break is no joke even for a younger person.

On the other hand, Rodney Tom leaving office is great news for the State of Washington.

I miss Goldy.

IOW, he'll be running against Inslee in '16.

@1, would there be any point in his resigning since the session has concluded for the year? That's an honest question - I don't know what the lege does during the rest of the year that could change if the majority in the Senate were to switch to Dem control.

@9, I think the first comment is referencing how lawmakers are paid year-round. So resigning would save some tax dollars.

Come on people, let's just admit it, it's fucking karma. Too bad it wasn't Rodney Tom but his father, but karma all the same.

Good riddance.

Please wait...
