reminded me of a friend who realized, while honeymooning with his wife in Europe, that it wasn't going to last. Shortly after their return to the US, they divorced.
@3 Fortunately, it's only a small part of the film. Call me crazy, but I enjoy films about unhappy couples (Nicolas Roeg's Don't Look Now is one of my favorites). Happy couples can be a little boring. On film, at any rate. Sometimes in real life, too...
I wasn't bored while watching this film, but ultimately, I felt like it was a lot of atmosphere and very little substance. The cinematography is gorgeous, the acting is good -- but I just felt totally unmoved. It seemed like the director/writer thought that a bunch of gorgeous scenery would substitute for a real story. The characterization is pretty flimsy.
I did, however, notice for the first time just how gorgeous Vincent Kartheiser's laser-blue eyes are ... how is it that I never noticed that on Mad Men?
Damn, Bill Murray is always right.
