I've felt a bit uneasy about the word police since I first became aware of them back in the 90s. The "reclamation" of negative words as positive makes more sense to me than the censorship of words commonly used as much in ignorance as malice. There's even a few moments of occasional satisfaction when twisting an intended insult into a compliment.
I do attempt to follow the most current WP rules as best I can, usually just by not making any assumptions... but sometimes I fail spectacularly.
Take this line for instance "For the record, I'm sorry the word we made up was overheard by mean people and has been used to cause so much pain to those who are experiencing transphobia in their young lives."
This is completely dismissive of the challenges that trans people can face.
