He missed a critical third option.
1) Obama's inept
2) Obama's got an ulterior motive to ignoring Perry's letter
3) Obama realizes that Perry is a worthless dimwit and anything he writes has about as much value as a three year old's crayon drawings.
2
"of which you are functioning from."

Good lord, republicans will just fucking vote for anyone who hates the right people, whether they are functionally literate or not.
3
I feel sorry for all Jerry Brown, Jan Brewer, Suzanna Martinez, and Rick Perry these days.

(You're welcome seatackled)
4
Perry always forgets the third option.
5
He wrote a letter. If that isn't leadership then what is?
6
he's such a dimwit he'll probably win the GOP nomination. and Americans are such spiteful dimwits he'll probably win the presidency.

if only there was a god so he could help us.

Well damn! CHECK-MATE LIBERALS!!! If Obama didn't respond to a letter from two years ago then clearly this is a conspiracy or Obama really is Hitler or Gay or Stalin or something. WOW!! Texas must be damn proud of Perry!!

Some less xenophobic (i.e., browner) Republicans respond to the child-refugee crisis at the southern border (reposted from a Sunday Morning News comment):
The Café con Leche Republicans ("We are Republicans who think the GOP should be more welcoming to immigrants") calls out the distortions and lies by right-wing and mainstream media and activists attempting to demonize the refugee children massing on the southern border.

@10. Better known as the future Repubicans for Clinton
12
I'll hold my nose at Clinton but... I don't think the republicans want to win in 2016. They make more money throwing stones at whatever Democrat is in the Whitehouse.
13
@12 Yes. They've gerrymandered control of the House and the "filibusters" and "holds" in the Senate mean that they can have their cake and eat it too with a Dem in the White House.

They can then use their states to enact their agenda.

Further, all their work seeding their ideology in the lower courts means that they should be able to hold or shift the Supreme Court rightward even with Dem nominations.

@9,

I love glasses Rick Perry so much. Reminiscent of this guy...

do illegal immigrants deserve a "living wage" or $15/hour?

16
I would like to see proof of his letter. He's got to have copies around. That's something all Uni/College kids learn after the first/second lost/destroyed 10 page essay.
17
@4: I cried aloud with mirth and merriment.
18
Perry is of course an idiot with no chance of ever rising higher than Governor (and how did he pull it off without the glasses!?), but your characterization of his comments regarding what would happen in the event of severe weather is pretty snide, Paul.
19
Perry's really just echoing Barbara Bush on the subject of hurricanes, when she said about Katrina survivors huddled in the Astrodome:
Almost everyone I've talked to says, 'We're going to move to Houston.' What I'm hearing, which is sort of scary, is they all want to stay in Texas. Everyone is so overwhelmed by the hospitality.

And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this, this is working very well for them.

And when Perry isn't being doing it himself, there's always another Texan somewhere to take up the entertainment slack: http://blog.chron.com/texaspolitics/2014…

I think there was a big batch of tainted monkey brains served up at the RNC back in the early 90's or so. That's the only thing that could account for the very obvious prion disease that's eaten away at the "brains" (such as they were) of this party for the past two decades.

Please wait...
