Boyhood was such a tremendous and understated achievement*. Given how long it has taken for it to arrive in Seattle, I'm extra-glad that SIFF was able to show it during the festival.

@2 "Understated" is a good word. I didn't feel like he was trying to make a grand statement about kids, families, or even the passage of time--I wouldn't have liked it as much if he was--and yet a lot of people have seen themselves in the film in some way.
