The partner had to steam the envelope open.
Isn't it good that only 100,000 primary ballots have been returned? Liberals vote later, don't they? These are probably Bellevue/Enumclaw/Black Diamond/North Bend/Auburn ballots...
I noticed the stickiness and thought it was just from the hot weather we have been having. I carefully, carefully opened it and I did lick it to seal it, but didn't notice anything foul tasting. I've licked worst things in my life.
My envelope self-sealed a few times before it was officially sealed by me. Mine was also of the "EWW" taste variety and I found a finger dipped in coffee retained enough moisture to activate the remaining seal.
Yeah, it was super yucky tasting envelope to lick. But I'm surprised people were motivated to contact the elections board over something like that. I just made a note to use a wet washcloth next time I vote.
My whole families return envelopes were sealed. Didn't taste the glue. Remember, the bad tasting glue is not the important issue. The issue is the envelopes will look opened and hence would be seen as looking fraudulent. Since the county knows about it they will accept them so it seems OK, but this still leaves the opportunity for actual scammers to take advantage since the ballots will be even easier to open and seal with tape. -Not that i am paranoid or anything ;-)- Well we can't win since it will be too expensive to send out new ballots all over again.
Oh My God, so I wasn't going crazy! Mine came practically sealed, I had to tease it open really carefully and I was worried I was going to tear the envelope.
i used to work at KCE and when i tasted that most vile of envelope gum i texted a friend who still works there asking if they had switched up who they got their envelopes from - my friend didn't think so, but after asking someone else she found out that yes it was a different supplier. i was told that that supplier would not be used again.
that was indeed the rankest lick-to-seal adhesive i have EVER tasted.
Thanks for the advice, Slog! My envelope was completely sealed shut and started to rip even going slowly. This is the only place I saw with directions on what to do. My vote must be counted!
Voting shouldn't leave a bad taste in your mouth.
