Speaking of introductions, CW11 aired this anti-gay hate monger this morning. According to him, being gay is the devil, and not hating gays is abandoning scripture.

@1 - Thank you for bringing that up. KSTW (CW 11) plays quite a bit of right-wing Christian broadcasting early in the mornings. I've contacted them letting them know about potential boycotts unless they drop such programming. The problem is, those right-wingers pay good money to KSTW for their airtime, and the station won't make the same amount of money if they just play "Full House" reruns.

As always, it boils down to the money. If KSTW could get paid more money from someone else for a program, they might take the hate-filled bigotry off of their early morning programming.

Thank you for posting this. The use of PReP is something I'm passionately ambivalent about. That is, I have strong feelings on both sides of the issue.

On the one hand, I'm outraged by the slut-shaming by the head of the LA AIDS Healthcare Foundation calling PReP a "party drug" (as if using it were the same as using meth). Those comments more than anything else pushed me more towards the pro-PReP corner.

I'm also deeply annoyed by others like a friend of mine to rather angrily said that anyone who doesn't use PReP is "grossly irresponsible." Well, no, fuck you too. Concerns about PReP and its potential longterm implications are not the same as anti-vaccination concerns. And some people are just fine using tried-and-true methods like condom use -- or, like something like 25% of gay men, not liking anal anyway.

PReP hasn't been around for very long. I'm sure it's been tested as well as it could have, but we still don't know what 10 or 20 years of use will mean. We're just now finding longterm side effects from using the anti-hair loss drug Propetia. How long has that been on the market, and only within the last few months do we know of issues like irreversible impotence?

I'm also concerned about the implications of people who aren't using it correctly (e.g., ideally 7 days a week but at least 4). Sure, their own health is at risk. But I know with tuberculosis drugs, stopping treatment has resulted in many drug-resistant strains. Are there similar risks involved with people who take Truveda unreliably? I haven't yet heard that fear addressed.

I'm cautiously inching into the pro-PReP corner but I think I still need to know more. And I think there's way too much emotion and shaming on both sides (but especially from the LA AIDS Healthcare Foundation, whom I'm growing quite angry with over a number of issues).

@2, I tweeted my protest. I watched for a few minutes. He is a horrible person preaching intolerance, appears to have a hand in pushing the Uganda laws and doesn't even seem to know the bible.

@3, Rich Juzwiak's been doing some great writing about Truvada. Earlier this year, he wrote about why he decided not to take it. Now he's written about why he's changed his mind. http://gawker.com/truvada-its-time-to-ta…

this is a big step toward the Grand Finale.

homosexuals crave an excuse to continue to engage in selfish dangerous behavior.

behavior that Nature rewards with nasty diseases.

expect a big uptick in dangerous selfish behavior.

and the inevitable followup increase in STD rates, with a few nasty new variants thrown in for good measure.

Gommorah or Bust!!

Please wait...
