good stuff!

Perhaps the music these days is better than it was 20 years ago, but the KCMU radio station was way way way better than the KEXP it turned into.
3
Who is this mysterious DJ Shadow that John is so enthralled with? Does he play bland indy guitar rock songs that John chooses to fill their daytime programming with?
4
It's an incredible honor to be asked to perform. Very excited about this show and the upcoming cast of talent they have confirmed.
5
attaboy, @nordic. i'm excited for this, anytime you can get a wider variety of voices on air, it's a good thing. maybe it'll be seattle's mini "beats in space".
6
Better late than never. Looking forward to it.

Bring the deep dark nasty body beats!

anything's better than jon in the morning. worst. dj. ever.

seriously...he deserves a special place in hell for "the friday song".

Wow...cool...hasn't someone already been doing this.....IDK like a certain independent company...for the past five years......hahahah congrats on getting on board....

http://www.ustream.tv/itvnw We have over 850 shows!!!!!!! At their rate of one hour per week it would take them 16 years to get that many episodes....and they are funded.....

Let's see… "KCMU was better", check, "John in the Morning sucks", check, "who is [band x]?", check… I just need someone to bring up the supposed scandal of John Richards' salary in order to get the KEXP-complaint BINGO.

KEXP is one of the best radio stations in the country and this show will just add to that. Am I a huge hip-hop or electronica DJ fan? Not really. But KEXP plays such a beautifully varied selection across their shows that there's something for everyone.

"KCMU was better"? Really? You're going to play that bullshit, hipster, things were better before they got cool card? That's so boring and predictable.

And if the Friday Song doesn't make you at least smile a little, you're dead inside and I pity you.

Sweet, now I don't have to just hope for DJ Riz when I remember to tune in to Expansions.

And morning hosts are all fuckin annoying.

This is great news!! I am stoked and to see KEXP trying something new really helps since I think instead of throwing John Richards under the bus I will toss in the afternoon lady and that god awful Kevin Cole under too...why can't they retire and let the new kids take over like Morgan. Or please give El Toro a day show - he's the best!

So no more Seek and Destroy? When Hannah Levin left Audioasis so did all the local heavy music (Helms Alee, Sandrider, Brothers of the Sonic Cloth, Lozen, etc.). KEXP is more about getting donations from New Yorkers than supporting what is going in Seattle.
15
So I guess I won't be doing any guest DJ slots? Why bother. I can entertain myself on a Friday night.
16
@14 No, this show is Friday night/Saturday morning; it's cutting an hour off of Michele Myers' show. Seek and Destroy is Saturday night/Sunday morning, and remains untouched. And as far as "all the local heavy music" leaving Audioasis with Hannah Levin, it would be just as accurate to say that when she left Audioasis, it opened up again to more than just local heavy music.

Please wait...
