The homepage and Slog have been redesigned to be more mobile-friendly.

Thousands of people across the world woke up this morning to something unexpected: You can now read The Stranger and Slog on your cell phone more easily than ever. Or on your iPad. Or on your Microsoft Surface. Or whatever technology that is about to come out that you are going to use in the future to read about bad cops, BDSM, movies, and sports.

While you were sleeping last night, our tech-savvy, at-risk youth flipped the switch on the gorgeous, responsive website you're now reading. "Responsive" means that if you widen or narrow your screen, whatever screen you're using, now or in the future, the site automatically redesigns itself to fit your screen correctly.

As you probably already know, we redesigned our Seattle events calendar a few months ago to make it mobile-friendly, more comprehensive, and better-looking. Now we've done the same thing to blog posts and articles. If you've been reading The Stranger and Slog for a while, you know you've always been able to read some of this stuff, kind of, but load times were really slow, and once a page finally loaded you'd have to use your fingertips to move around on the page to see everything.

Not anymore!

A couple other things you'll notice right away: The comments section now opens in its own window rather than automatically showing up at the bottom of an article (and pages are loading faster already). Category tags on Slog appear at the top of all headlines now for mobile users, and can be clicked on to quickly navigate to other stories in that same category (you've always been able to do this on a desktop, but never on your phone before). And, again, The Stranger's homepage used to be completely unreadable for mobile users, but now it's optimized for mobile users while being basically unchanged for desktop users. If you're on your phone right now, check it out.

We realize there are still a few bugs, and we're working on them. If you see anything that looks off while you're clicking around, we'd love to know about it: Take a screen grab and send it our way. Include the URL where it appears, if possible, and what browser you're using, and we'll take a look right away.

Thanks for reading! Give us some feedback in the comments and we'll add your ideas to the list.
