Will the new design help you better be able to monitor our credit card usage, etc?
2
You should sic Charles on this
3
Ugh - no html allowed here now? Here's the correct post:
You should sic Charles on this Amanda Knox blowjob piece at the Seattle Times: http://seattletimes.com/html/opinion/202…

Why no Slog poll on the disastrous redesign?
5
Why are there pop-ups now? Did your redesign take place in 2002?

The user Profile function used to allow you to jump back to one of your comments to easily catch up to the later comments on the same article. Now, it just brings up the article and you have to navigate through from scratch. Also, I liked the comments opening in a new window, rather than navigating away from the article as now.

That can all get fixed, of course. I'm not sure if I miss the dividing section between days or not. I could probably get over that.

That said, there's a lot to like about the new layout. It's definitely prettier. But please fix some of the navigation issues. A lot of stuff was in the old version that made it very convenient.

@6 Okay, wait. Now the comments are opening in a new tab, so never mind what I said about that. Was it doing that yesterday?
8
I expected this morning's news to note the tragic car crash death of Bob Simon in NYC yesterday.
9
Hmmmm.... Personal first impression opinion: I liked it when comments were displayed at the bottom of the post. Now it seems they must be opened in a new window. Do not like.

Also, received errors trying to post yesterday. Today again: Error saving comment. (88912)

Anyway to increase the font in Safari on an iPad? I can always use a different browser, but that's kind of a pain.
11
why not ability to vote up and down on comments? Did your redesign take place in 2002?
12
@9 Why display comments at the bottom of the post when you can get more ad views by opening a new tab?
13
I like the new design! I reminds me of when I had aol.

@13, +1

Sure, the redesign is a pain in the ass and looks like garbage to 50% of mobile users and 100% of laptop/desktop users, but look how BIG the ads and shitty stock photos are now!

So BIG!
19
The mobile version is not working here (iPhone or iPad, both on iOS 8.1.2) - I just get a blank white screen. So something is fucked up.

Not a fan of the redesign so far.
20
Well, everything looks pretty. I wanted to say something positive. After checking mobile slog, I, too, preferred the much easier to use older version of Slog Mobile.
21
Hm, previous comment doesn't seem to have uploaded.

Let's try this AGAIN.

@12, 16:

Is there REALLY anyone here NOT using an ad-blocker on either the full or mobile versions?
23
I like it that when I read the comments, then go back the slog page doesn't automatically go back to the top.
24
Holy shit, have you seen the cop shooting video from Pasco yet?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-0uqFTB…

Murderers. The guy was unarmed and running away. No excuse - those officers should be charged with murder. Also, the first round of gunfire (which all apparently missed) is fired at the guy while he is in the middle of a busy intersection with cars waiting at all four approaches. Lucky they didn't kill someone else too.
25
i don't have a smart phone. i have a stupid mutherfuckin dumb as shit ratchet ass flip phone so whatevs.. but i do miss the the separation in days and dates. itd be nice to have 'thursday' seprated from 'wednesday ' by that usual banner.
26
With each redesign, you're basically tearing down Pike street all over again.
27
@21, as far as I can tell there are no longer distinct mobile and "full" Slog versions. Both slog.thestranger.com and slog.thestranger.com/blogs/slog/mobile automatically redirect to slog.thestranger.com/blogs/slog.
28
I see what appears to be a large print version - for Slog's aging demographic!?!
29
My thoughts on the redesign:

1 - overall, it's cleaner, and better. Victory.
2 - I can't see both the article and the comments at the same time. Big time boo.
3 - Comments aren't threaded. Would vastly prefer comment threading so I don't have to wade through two peoples slogwar or scroll upwards all the time to figure out what someone is referring to. Opportunity missed!
30
YES! So nice finally to have the page load in less time than it takes to boil 5 gallons of water! Love it!
31
Like it
32
One thing I don't like: when you comment on a phone, you can't go back to the article without going back to your comment - composition again.
33
It's better.
35
oops, this is just a test.
36
Hm, yeah, having the comments at the foot of the article/post was nice, because you could easily open the entire posting in a new tab, and have the whole thing -- post+comments -- in one window, then you could then zip to the top to re-read the content before continuing excoriating your opponent's logical flaws & reading comprehension.

When you click the 'comments' icon, could you create the new page with the original slog posting at the top? Thanks.

Also, the VERY BLUE Name line could stand to be a bit smaller (2-3 point sizes), and probably right-justified. As it is the commenter's name gets in the way of reading the comment.
38
Your redesign pretty much sucks...and you keep making it worse.

Now comments open up on top of the article, so there's no way to skip between the article and comments via scroll or tab? Terrible.

And I have to scroll through a shitload of ads to see the Most Commented sidebar? Lame.

And you only have a few articles on each page? Amateurish.

And once I comment I have to use the Back arrow to return to content? Is it 1998?

I've been here since Day 1, and recently SLOG was borderline unreadable based upon lack of good content. Now it's unreadable because it's just simply hard to read!
39
The beloved Firefox GreaseMonkey extension I used to thread posts and hide registered trolls and "Dan's trans- and biphobic!" commenters is now useless. Sigh.
40
I use a feed reader to read Slog, and click in when I want to see comments. Now I have to load two new pages to do that. My life is basically over.

But seriously, having the article and comments on different tabs will take some getting used to. I didn't realize how much I go back and forth between them.

Please wait...
